So it's finally announce, the North American Star League (as everyone had guessed). What are everyone's thoughts on it? Are we going to see Moonglade head over there or stick around in Korea? (Make sure you vote for him in the NASL poll!) Will this event have any effect on SC2/eSports in SEA?
I pointed out that it was a bit silly to claim a 'World Champion' in a US league on the TL forums, and InControl had a go at me. I feel blessed.
Its a very large move in the right direction for esports. Unfortunately, I dont see this having an effect on SEA starcraft by a very large amount. It will still turn out some very interesting games and more opportunities for professional players, though.
It is also very silly to call baseball competition "world league", americans man...what else do you expect? lol if only we had some kind of sc league for sea
The baseball is called the World league because it was originally sponsered by "The World" newspaper. Thats not to mention the fact that they really should have dropped the name by now tho.
Surely this will affect us tho, as we all have NA accounts will be easier for top players to practise and compete up to that level. Its a good thing for esports which is a good thing for us all.

Unless they can draw the best Koreans, calling the winner of this the "world champion" will be a bit of a joke.
I wonder if they can sustain $400k prizes long enough to pull the best GSL players over? Good to see a serious attempt, but you just have to wonder if the US market is ready to support that kind of push. The Korean market had multiple dedicated SC/WoW3 cable TV channels when I was there back in 2002, and 8 years later Ive still never heard of such a thing anywhere else...
I voted for Koreans, because tbh the involvement (or not) of those guys will probably be a huge factor in the success or failure of the entire venture

Koreans are going to come just because of the prize - should vote for the best foreigners like mOOnGLaDe who will have a chance to take games off them and make it a success ;D
The NASL is awesome! I know understand why IdrA relinquished his Code S status and returned to America.
In regards to it having any affect on SEA; possibly. I mean it may just be wishful thinking; but perhaps SCII having a large tournament like this in America may prompt sponsors to potentially organise one similar (albeit a substantially smaller prize-pool) in the SEA/ANZ region.
Either way it's a definite positive for e-sports on a whole.
Right now it's a good step because now we have not only just MLG and a bunch of random LANs here but we also have the NASL which will run for 3 seasons so I think it's good for NA.
I also think that eventually MLG reaches SEA since they just branched out to Europe but they will probably have to contact Gretech or something to try and get something done there.
Nasl has started, bought my ticket yesterday and watched the vods in 1080p. The quality of the stream is by far the best i have ever seen and it makes other streams look like a downloaded handycam video when nasl is on blue ray. Well worth the $25 for 3 months worth of games only petty is the games are on at like 11am Australia time but they are a replay match anyway so watching the vods is just as exciting. Moonglade plays tomorrow as well so that will be a great match I voted for him a few times on the nasl site its good that he has a chance to win it. Anyone else watching the games? the streams are on justintv same as the dreamhack stream but even better quality stream at 1080p!
The streams actually live right now although its just pregame stuff at the moment pretty sure nasl starts at about 11am australia eastern time.
