I'm a master zerg player and I've never really tried dropping. I just don't find it to be efficient/effective, but maybe I'm just blind. If I were to start trying it(Which I really should), I'd start with banelings and infestors. Separately of course.

Infestors can do TONS of damage to unsuspecting players. Roach/hydra drops can snipe tech very easily verse a turtling Protoss if you can't engage the front of him. If you are going for a ling/infestor/ultra then you can drop 2 ovies full of lings.

Well I´ve started dropping roaches at toss main when he moves out, Lings are not that effective, you can also drop Ling bane and burrow banelings at the ramp when he´s busy trying to save all his workers.
The most effective if he isnt inbase is ROACH drops, if not lings. But if i really want to get lings into his main i´d rather using a nydus worm

You should watch Morrow replays or stream. He is incredibly talented at dropping and running by almost constantly with lings and banes. Dropping a ton of lings can be super effective, especially when upgraded and when your opponent is just moving out of his base.
