Streaming Issues

Hey guys,

My specs are as follows:

Intel Sandy Bridge -E I7-3930K 3.2Ghz 12mb Cache Unlocked CPU LGA2011
Gigabyte X79-UD5 Quad Channel Motherboard LGA2011
G-Skill Ripjaws Z 16GB DDR3 2133 Black Edition Ram (4 x 4GB)
Intel RTS2011LC Watercooler
Corsair F3 GT 120GB SATA3 SSD (555mb/s Read/ 515mb/s Write)
1TB SATA3 HDD
Bluray Rom/ DVD/CD Writer
Radeon HD79703GB Graphic Card
FSP Aurum 750W Gold Certified Modular PSU
Coolermaster 692 Advanced Gaming ATX Case

The problem is, I am unable to stream for long periods of time, as my computer decides to screw up when it shouldnt. The screen will freeze, and xsplit will go blank and stop streaming. This happens after approximately 30 minutes of streaming, sometimes less and sometimes more. A message pops up in the corner sometimes, which I believe refers to the AMD drivers failing. I've updated/reinstalled the drivers to their latest version (as far as I know) and I still am forced to endure computer **** ups. I forked out 3.5 grand on this computer, and it has continually failed, with hardware issues and shit customer support.

Paro.

You can try sending xsplit a message, stating your problem / asking for support. I think they have a compat-list of hardware as well (unless im imagining things).

Probably graphics card compat imo but im unsure of these things, sorry cannot help much.

Do you know exactly what the error says when it pops up?

Some other questions I have, is any of your hardware overclocked? Whats your CPU, Memory look like when you stream, everything stable?

I'm feeling like it Aequitas. Nothing is overclocked in my PC at all. The message I never get to fully see, but I will try and pick it up next time I stream and I will post it here.

Get some temp monitoring software installed on your computer i.e. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

It's possible although perhaps unlikely that your computer may be overheating. This explains the delay in the issue occuring, and why it happens during a relatively stressful thing for the computer to do (encoding), but perhaps not others.

Otherwise see if you can get a GPU stress tester (http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/) and examine if it occurs after running for a similar amount of time to xsplit. This can hopefully narrow down if it's a hardware problem or a software issue.

Obviously ensure all drivers etc are up to date, uninstall / reinstall.

I've had similar issues with my computer before in the past, drove me nuts for 2 months. It would completely freeze with no mouse movement, keyboard response, anything after a little while. Occasionally I'd get a recovery error on start up with regards to an nvidia dll. Turns out it was a faulty graphics card. Resulting from this I wouldn't ignore the AMD error, it may rightfully be pointing towards graphics.

If it's freezing up on furmark and your temps are staying in a reasonable range then the next step will be to try and borrow a graphics card off someone or use your onboard graphics card and try again. If it doesn't occur this time then you can correctly diagnose the graphics card as your most likely issue and RMA it.

Hope it helps.

I'm not exactly sure how to use the benchmarking program, or what to look for in my results, would you be able to lend a hand?

I set my GPU Fan speed to 60% before running the '15 minute Burn In test - 1920x1080'. The results are attached

UPDATE:

I found out what the popup says when my screen goes blank. This one happened as X-split was opening:

'Display Driver has stopped responding and has recoverd.'
'Display driver AMD driver software has stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Thats an issue with the new generation gfx card from amd. I had it several time when I am streaming on too high quality. Try to monitor ur gfx temp when you are streaming, it sounds like your gfx heat sink may be faulty. Well you can always replace gfx =) On another note sick computer!

So i basically just have to go with it? And is the quality too high on SC2, or in xsplit? What is optimal? I'm not interested in replacing the GFX as it cost me $750.

dunno if this is the same issue, but my pc used to crash a lot when playing high quality games, i found out that it was getting too hot (would crash after running at 70-80 degrees for a few minutes). 2 things i did to fix this was to set my gpu fan to 100% and i also took the side of my case off and put a full sized floor fan pointing in to it problem very rarely occurs anymore.

If the heat sink is faulty you may be eligible for a replacement or refund. Which could be good for finding a replacement video card should you deem it necessary.

Paroxysm - With the burn in test, just select "burn in test" and leave it for an hour or so. It's not so much the results we're after, it's determining whether or not the computer freezes in a similar matter. It should basically stress test your card enough to simulate what's happening with xsplit and sc2 open. The 15 min benchmark may not have been enough to replicate it. I know it's frustrating having to leave tests open so long to troubleshoot but I recommend it.

In terms of 'replacing' the GPU you shouldn't need to pay anything, it should be changed under warranty, we just need to make sure it's 100% what's causing it.

I thought this might of been what it would of said.

As already stated your GPU is working over time (Hence why I asked if you Overclocked it before :P) There are plenty of good ideas here now though

I see, I'll try an hour long benchmark tonight and see what happens. I might also open up my case and have a fun running, while turning my GPU fans up to a higher speed.

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll keep you posted.
