I agree that it sort of undermines the overall result, but in reality it was probably fair to replay the game. Sure, Parting could have theoretically pushed in and won, but that game was so back and forth and so intense, its tough to just adjudicate it either way. I think the rematch was the fairest possible option.
Not sure if this has been posted but coach gerrard from prime had this to say in the interview.
Quote:
I ask GomTV to release the replay so that there is no misunderstanding. If Startale or the fans think that Parting deserved a win, I will resign as team Prime’s coach.
Will be nice if they do, the replay will give a lot to discuss on (though I doubt if he would resign lol).

That's some ballsy talk. Awkward moment when everyone watches it and realize that Parting actually did deserve the win.
^^ There have been some very very stupid situations in bw due to kespa rules. And I think there as a situation where the game was called off cause a progamer fainted. Not sure about a disconnect though, it was mostly lan, so you didnt have to hear the vehicle of e-sports speech too often.
Yeah flash vs jaedong in BW not sure which year, pretty much jaedong clawed his way back into the game was was in a commanding lead and someone dc'd and they awarded the game to jaedong and ppl qq'd about for years. The internet is going to qq regardless of their decision. If they awarded the game to Parting there would be as many ppl crying about it as people crying about the game being remade. All in all it sucks ass, people need to move on, and mkp still played extremely well to beat parting again and then the rest of ST as well
The decision itself doesn't REALLY matter. The real problem is that Blizzard still aren't implementing LAN into a game that has big tournaments; with big money for high-perfoming players/teams. I think Blizzard should implement LAN, and even if it doesn't make a difference, they can at least say "Well, we gave you what you wanted" and people can stop blaming them.
My 2c.
They can't add a traditional LAN function cause it will make it easier for people to pirate sc2. Also they'll lose control over how companies can use it, a la kepsa and Brood War. Hopefully though the quote...

We’re also working on a feature that will help players connect with other players and games that are near their location (connecting through the same IP). We believe this will primarily be used by people in internet gaming rooms, offices, dorm rooms, and local tournaments where you just want to find the guy sitting in the desk next to you. Although this may not be ready in time for the release of patch 1.5, we do intend to have this available by the time Heart of the Swarm ships.
... means that people will be able to connect to each other without constant connection to battle.net (just initial connection). If they can do that, it might help (not in this situation though).

I agree, but in THIS situation, LAN wouldnt have helped. The computer lost connection to the network, like a plug pull.
It's absurd that we still find ourselves in this situation, though, so many times after SC2 is released. BW almost never had these issues (Flash vs JD was a power outage, external factor), and to see it at a stage of this size is appalling.
The refs should have shown the reasons for their ruling through at least showing their analysis of the replay on the spot. I mean really I don't think there was anyway MKP was gonna be able to come back from that.
Yes, it's extremely unlikely that MKP could come back, but what's immediately in question is whether he was going to die right there. Anything more requires assumptions about how the game would go, and you can't award games on assumption.
