So I (SiF) was playing Clock last night and got completely PWNED by his 'rine/tank/bunker' timing push. Reminds me a lot of the old tank/rine/turret push from bw.
Now most of the time vs. Terran I play well. TAVoices can testify to that
Anyway I 3gate expo (on 35) to keep up with their eco and Sentry+Zealot to start to counter bio/hellion pressure. Then Robo and gate up (6or7) when the expo is up.
The problem I have is that the timing of this push means that siege tanks smash away the zealots (no immortals) so quickly that they don't get to do enough damage and then it's all down hill from there.
Has anyone got some different b.o's for this?
Also any comments on Citadel>Charge?
Does anyone 1gate expo?
Get a prism and abuse his slow push by warping in rounds of 3-4 zeLots in his mineral line to frustrate him, build immortals (why the fk wouldn't you vs tanks) and try to engage him before he bunkers you in, if he's going bio mech he's handing you map control on a platter, take it, engage when and where you want to (open areas while he's unsieged) and delay him getting to your nat.
Those are the cookie cutter things i can think of, you're opening is likely fine tbh the way you handled the midgame is likely shitballs.
Thanks guys - I'll upload the rep in question tomorrow and hopefully give you some material to rip into me about haha - Xeen thanks for your comments on bnet too
U can watch the 3rd GSL finals between oGsMC and TSL_Rain. I think in both the 1st and 2nd games rain had set up a pretty solid contain on MC, who then just used mobility to beat the immobile army.
my usual build is 1gate 1robo expand, then 2 more gateways. I find the tank push to be a pretty weak build imo.
Vs this build you will want to delay their push like pinder said, but while retreating to your base, split your army into 2 groups. one will be too roam between their seige setup outside your natural and their base, picking off any reinforcements. The other group will be to hang out at your natural.
Basically you will not want to engage until your natural is about to die. By this time you would have cut off at least 2 minutes of reinforcements, and you will have some immortals out. Then you can just pincer attack.
If the map doesn't allow you to do this then yeah it would be a good idea to use a warp prism, either in a counter-aggressive way or to drop on seige tanks..ect.
in my experience if someone does this vs me on steppes of war or xel naga to me i automatically win, because its so easy to cut off their reinforcements.

i too have been coming across alot of mech builds lately, alot of 4 hellion drops. usually if i see a tech lab on a barracks i open up stargate, if i see two marines or something unusual not leading to mmm or something i will go robo. i find if you use your immortals and engage at the right spots you can do pretty well.
