It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

TT sports Challenger PRO. i think that the typing is better than most of the really known keyboards out there. It has red backlight and there is a version (challenger ultimate) where you can change backlight color.
Has macro keys but it doesnt make the keyboard really longer and it has a cooling fan, what else do you want?
I currently have a filco majestouch 2 ninja browns tenkeyless. Its a ******* mouthful, and rightly so. Its awesome.
@ToREchos: Blacks are generally quieter than browns (and therefore blues) because they are 'stiffer' to press. Not sure about reds or clears personally.
@Easy: The challenger pro (not mechanical!) was my keyboard before this one. Its nice, but doesn't show up the Filco at all! (However, if I was forced to go back to rubber-dome, I would indeed get that keyboard again).
My only advice (Which you will have no doubt seen everywhere if you have researched this) is to try out all the different switches that you can to see what suits you best (Namely browns, blues, and blacks).
Personally I wasn't able to do this (Hard in Sydney), however I got the browns on a number of recommendations, and doubt I will ever change. Maybe blues next. Definitely not blacks - they really aren't for me. My fingers would get way too tired. Each to their own.
You honestly can't go wrong with a Filco. I actually can't remember reading a negative review in regards to quality (Only very, very picky people complain that stock Filco keys are not PBT).
Personally I wouldn't buy a Black Widow simply because I see many people complain they have a problem here and there with it (This thread included!)
Finally, go to Geekhack.org. It is a site purely dedicated to mechanical keyboards, and have wikipedia-type pages that give you all you need to know to help you make a decision!

I use the Razer Blackwidow ultimate, but it is very loud. But Razer has released a stealth version of this so if noise i a problem the stealth edition might be interesting to you.
dont you find the F keys a bit close to your fingers? do u ever accidently hit them?
that's why is such a great keyboard. you need the f keys for sc and them being directly above the number keys makes it so much easier to access. there's only one other keyboard I know of that used to do this and IBM no longer makes it T.T.
Where do you guys get the things to replace the keys? I want to make mine checked. Do you have to get it off the net? never seen any comp store in australia selling them.

I got a filco majestouch but it's some special edition camo version. Running blacks.
I
can u comment on blacks for RTS? ive heard people say they are harder to press, I dont want to get tired fingers but im leaning towards blacks because they seem to be the quietest.

If you want the linearity of Blacks without the stiff springs, just get a keyboard with reds. They are identical but have lighter springs more like blues.

I think blacks are a little quieter though because you don't bottom out as hard with the higher resistance. You don't really need to press the keys all the way down, so that's what I find, at least.
