Due to popular demand, Tier 4 of the SEA League will involve an elimination playoff system with the top 6 teams from the ladder rounds. While the main prize as offered by sc2sea and nirvAnA will still go to the top ladder placer, there will be additional prizes on the line for the playoffs, as well as bragging rights for the true claim to the tier 4 title! The playoffs will span 2 weeks to keep it brief, and the finals will require the teams to play Sunday night.

Format

A top six playoff system will be used, wherein the top two ranked teams from the round robin league will get a week's break while 3rd to 6th play off in preliminary semi-finals. The highest advancing seed from this round will play the 2nd seed from the round robin the following week in the semi-finals. The two victorious teams will then play in the Grand Finals on the following Sunday. Both the preliminary semis and semi finals will be played on the regular Thursday timeslots. The format for matches will be similar to the regular season, except that ace matches are no longer 2 points. This is to avoid the possibility of a draw delaying the brackets. Lineup submission and maps will be determined at the time of the games.

leave it the same as now (5 matches, 1 match worth 2 points)
then in the event of a 3-3 draw the series shall be decided by a 2v2 match Bo3.

that would work, i'd just prefer to have 6 games with an ace worth 2 (so 7 points available in the series)

seems like the sort of thing a vote between team captains would be useful for (maybe just the captains from teams in the finals?)

of course as admin if you prefer 1 over the other (or some other system) then the choice is yours and i'll happily participate with no complaints

Some teams are still struggling to get the full 5 members each time. Notably KFC is one of them and they are top2. I'd rather keep the playoffs similar to the regular season so people who did well then will continue to do well in the playoffs otherwise they don't mean as much.

makes sense, i didn't realise any of the top 6 teams were struggling to get 5 players each week. during the regular season TA and KFC use the same ace every week so we could try to snipe them. will that remain similar? :P
