Hi guys, I'm currently working on an FAQ for the SC2SEA website and am posting this thread to ask you to inform me of questions about this site that you would like answered OR have had in the past.
The chatbox located on the front of the site is intended for general conversation and simple one line questions.
Blogs are intended for rants, talks about your holiday and other personal or uninformative blog-like content. Because of the nature of blogs it is uncommon to be infracted for controversial views.
Threads are for everything else. Generally this means that they are informative or have detail and depth to them.
Where can I get my replay analysed?
The Replay Feedback Thread! Upload your replay files to a location such as drop.sc and make a post in the replay feedback thread with a link to the replay file and a small description of what went on during the game and what you appear to be having problems with. An example of a post which has had thought put into it can be found here. Do not post replays of victories... only losses.
What do the colours of people's names mean?
It is easy enough to deduce what they mean simply by looking at the staff roster however to date here's a small list:
Administrators - Black
Article Writers - Purple
Blizzard - Sky Blue
Casters - Olive (I have a more crude name for this colour though)
Journalists (i.e. the News Team) - Teal
Moderators - Maroon
Torniquet (first moderator) - Green
Most Valuable Posters (MVP's) - Gold/Sandy Brown
Tournament Organisers - Ice Blue (although not everyone with the power to organise events has this colour in their name)
Tournament Organisers from a company - Aqua-Green
It is worth noting that some people have multiple titles and so they can only really have one colour in their name.
What are achievements? what are the different achievements I can obtain? and who has what achievements?
Achievements are intended to award members of the community for their contributions to SC2SEA (Community Achievements) or for tournament achievements in SC2SEA related events (Tournament Achievements). A detailed listing of all the achievements, how to obtain them and who has them can be found here. TheGentleman is responsible for most of the achievement artwork.
The easiest way to work out who the current moderators (mods) are on these forums is to simply look at the bottom of a forum. E.g. the General Threads forum. You can however also find out this information by looking at the staff roster here.
Generally moderators names are maroon with some exceptions. The most notable exceptions are administrators (which have mod powers and their names in black) and Torniquet (who gets his own colour, green, for being the first mod).
What is a necro?
A necro occurs when someone posts in an old thread where the original post no longer contains relevant information.
The orignal thread was posted on the 4th of April 2011 (over 1 and a half years ago). The OP (Original Poster) claimed that there were staff openings/positions that needed to be filled on the website... however it should be noted that that information was relevant at 04/04/2012 and is no longer relevant now. On the 29th of November 2012 this thread was raised from its grave.
NOTE: The site has a search function to enable people to find threads that they can post relevant information in and to help answer questions that have been answered before. Be careful when posting in old threads though as necromancy is not allowed on this website and infractions are frequently issued to those who necro threads.
How do I edit a line of text in the chatbox?
Double click the line you wish to edit. You can only edit your own lines.
