I was wondering, since forcefield and feedback share the same hotkey, do people simply make sure sentries and hightemplar are in different groups or do they rebind feedback to another one?
In terms of playing with HT, is there a good group of units to keep them with (like i would imagine grouping them with zealots would suck)?
If you've got a case of 'all units, one hot-key' syndrome than you could always use the TAB key to tab between your casters.
However in my opinion, it'd be best to have them on their own hot-key (i.e. 3, or 4) so you can position them and storm/feedback with them as required.
In terms of your other hot-keys, a basic set-up is stalkers on their own hot-key and sentries and zealots together (due to a similar movement speed).
FYI, When you have more than 1 unit group selected, spellcasters take priority meaning they will be selected first (Templar, then Sentry).
Personally, I hotkey each unit group to a different hotkey. (1 Stalker / 2 Zealot / 3 Sentry / 4 Colossi / 5 HT / 6 All, etc), then when I have no more Sentries late game, HT take spot 3 (If It's PvZ/P and I've got VR's, they take spot 5, etc). That leaves 0 for Main, 9 for Natural, 8 for Third, 7 for Observers.
Warpgate is on W, then I click over to my Robo/Star (which people say is bad, but I never seem to have any trouble).
Hotkeys are still a work in progress for me. I have read some forum posts and watched replays in a quest to find out what best suits me. Quite alot of people seem to bind the nexus to 4, which is something I finally got used to doing, so I think moving it now will cause trouble for my limited skills. I am now also used to putting my robo on 5 and then some other building on 6 when i remember (e.g. starport). I am happy with using w as my warpgate hotkey.
1, 2 and 3 have gone through all sorts of attempts. Usually my main army is on 1, which up to now has often been a ball of most things except for maybe HT or voidrays. I still like the idea of a big ball on 1 (e.g. sentries, stalkers, observer), but I definately want to move my collosus onto 2. If I am playing with zealots, I have read that i should put them with sentries due to similar movement speed, but i haven't really tried this out yet. I also need to think about keeping the stalkers separate (so maybe on 2) because I have noticed that trying to blink with the stalkers in a mixed group doesnt really work. I hardly use HT because as a noob i find them difficult to use, but i am trying to force myself to use them, esp against terran, and when i do, i usually put them onto 3. On a less consistent note, I sometimes remember to put an observer on 0.
3-4 hotkeys for units are the norm. The rest should be on buildings etc, but if you have the "one hotkey syndrome" like skybreaker said, then yeah tabbing through units would help alot.
