The Carrier is in. We brought it back for several reasons. The biggest reason was that it was currently the only unit still removed from the expansion. Back when I had this crazy plan that we would "cut units and add new ones" we cut a bunch of units.
Over time this plan did not work out. Cut units worked there way back into the mix and finally the only unit that was still cut was the Carrier. It seems weird to cut only one unit from one race. So it's back in. And it's staying. We should have put it back before the beta started but we didn't and the community reminded us how important this was

Also apparently through rumours on the Pro Forum Dayvie has said that they're looking into the nony changes , but would rather focus on HotS units..
Could this expansion be renamed Heart of the Carrier? I hope so!~

I do agree with the changes but the further into the beta we get (right from the original realease of the new units) the more multiplayer seems to be swinging back towards WoL balance. I just hope HoTs will be big enough of a change to see entirly new play / strats rather than just minor adjustments for the remaining new units / abilities.
It is entirly possible i am speaking out my ass as i havent played it, but you must admit from the original release of HoTs new units things have mellowed significantly.

So glad it made it's way back into the game Iconic units like this shouldn't disappear. Literally, the best way to fix the carrier would be to allow interceptors to continue firing while the carrier is moving. This would actually enable it to kite units ... just like in BW. We can always dream eh?
What are these micro suggestions from Nony? I'm not familiar with them.

Random carrier thought. One of the major crippling weakness of stargate play for Protos is lack of observers. Give Carrier 2 kinds of interceptors normal kind one. Here is the idea ... one that doesnt do damage but has detection (small range), costs gas, maybe takes up 2 interceptor spots. Well inside the carrier it would have a detection range of 1 or 2(per detecting interceptor), well "attacking" would have a detection range of target or detection range of 2 well it hovers/circles above target.
The idea is the player can make a choice between extra DPS or some much needed detection for stargate play. Would make carriers an interesting unit. Carrier would also likely need a recycle interceptor ability to alter the number of interceptors in it.
