Hi, im very new to sc2sea but know that this is the best place that i can get help. I am currently silver league and play mostly 2v2 with zerg. But i am having trouble. I am still quite new to the game and need help learning about scouting because i never scout. I am stuck on a four gate proxy frame of mind and cant seem to do anything else.
I am looking for someone to team up with me for a little while and teach me a few things like scouting and countering and seeing possible attacks.
yea i could help you im only a top level plat player though but i could help you with scouting, what are you wanting to do though get more into 1v1s or just stick to 2v2s?
I'm not saying to not play 2v2, they are fun at that's really what the games about for most people. But if you are doing 2v2's till you are comfortable enough to play 1v1 games I think that is a bad idea. You lose nothing by jumping straight into the deep end and 2v2 is a very very different beast from 1v1.
In silver league (and I assume this is 1v1 silver, even if you mostly play 2v2), scouting isn't your biggest issue. It's still a good idea to get into the habit of scouting, but for now you can just work on executing your macro. Hit those injects on time! Make a bunch of units and then attack.
Re: scouting, when I was silver, I used to just look for gas. If my opponent had no gas, it meant I could eliminate a ton of possible units that he might send out early. You can't really draw conclusions if you see gas though, but feel free to make educated guesses. Over time, this will build knowledge.

This is very true. Not very many people are ever actually "comfortable" playing 1v1.
We do it for the thrill
I think the best advice I've ever heard is if you're afraid to click that search match button for 1v1, close your eyes and press it anyway.

So i have tried playing just 1v1's today and am still doing placement matches but also played some AI games, Against the Hard AI i struggle and i haven't even been close to winning a match yet in matchmaking. I really need help. perhaps someone can 1v1 me and tech me some things?
At your level pick 3 strategies 1 for each match up and practice them over and over sooner or later you'll begin to adapt them to the situation your in and you will in improve. I honestly got to plat NA with 5 strategies and good mechanics.

do you think you could just name one of your preferred strats for each match up so i have some kind of reference?
I used to 15 hatch 14 pool a lot, but would get cheesed many times by people thinking it was an easy win (they're right, I always died).
So now I play really safe, 14 pool 13 gas, then expand. Never get cheesed by cannon rushes or bunker rushes etc any more. I do this against all 3 races, but vary my game depending on what I see my opponent do. For example, if a terran or protoss opponent takes their natural quickly then I go to 3 bases. If they stay on one base, I stick to 2 bases and keep an eye out for all ins. Against zerg opponents, I use my overlord to scout whether they expand, make heaps of units or are droning up. This will determine what I in turn do. Your overlord is normally fast enough to do all this scouting early on, with the exception of gigantic maps like entombed valley etc.
My build order is probably not the most economical or whatever but I am very comfortable doing it because it allows me to be safe in the early game but flexible with the rest of the game. If/when I ever get better I guess I'll learn a few other builds that are more specialised against each race.
Edit.. oops thought you are zerg for some reason.

PvP is really... weird. No "standard" compositions there, unless you want a list of 100 transitions between single robo into double robo into +stargate unless you go stargate first which then you need +robo or +forge... Just stick with a build you like, like 3 gate blink, fast robo, etc.
PvT should be Chargelots+splash. Anything splash - storm, archons, colo, etc.
PvZ - Immortal/Sentry to start, then Zealot/Stalker/Sentry/Colo

Hatch first is usually only a ZvT build, in which case it's still slightly hard to fend off a bunker rush until ~plat level. And ZvZ hatch first is razor thin timings vs anything other than hatch first, and you need to be perfect with macro etc.
When I started I used to just 14/14, it got me all the way to about mid gold. Recently I've started learning different builds e.g hatch first v terran & roach max v protoss.
