I'm working on doing live casts of my zerg play. I'll be at least uploading 1 a day, trying to get promoted higher on SEA servers.
I won't just be uploading my wins, I'll do any losses that I learn from too.
I know my live casting isn't too informing at this time, but it was my first live cast ever, and I'm a shy person. I was also concentrating on the game too. Any productive criticism is welcome about my casting or gameplay.
Also does anyone know how to encode videos that are frapsed to make it fit to screen? I use windows movie maker and it makes the resolution of the video tiny with leaving a massive black box around it. I have no idea how to fix it.
And the first sc2 game uploaded was just a test, to see how the quality was on youtube and give my friend something to watch :P
Like I said, any positive criticism is welcome. Also any tech issues you find I'll try to fix them. My upload is only 0.3, so it does take a few hours to upload so it will mainly be over night. It also rules out any form of good quality live-streaming .
If you can upload vids in 720p thats fine, as long as you get rid of the black border ^^
As for encoding I would recommend VirtualDub - its free and not at all microsoft related so thats good
Make sure you have installed the encoding codecs that you need to get the video what you want. If you are uploading to youtube I would recommend encoding into flv format (it seems they aren't switching everything over to google vid just yet) as that will reduce processing time (on youtube's end)
Another thing if you find you cannot commentate your game while playing you can record the game then after it record a commentary track. ^.~
Yeah I was thinking just commentating replays. So I've commentated 3 live casts today, and I'm going to commentate 3 replays. I guess whatever ones get the most love I'll do. I think I have REALLY improved on commentating live with these games, as I am actually telling you what I think as I am doing it. And I'm actually reminding myself of what to do. I've gotten rid of the black border. I play games in 16:9, the video was encoding the game in 4:3 while keeping the video 16:9. I've done a fit to screen option so it actually is fullscreen now. I'm going to start uploading now =)
EDIT: Argh ;_; I just watched a game to see if sound levels were fine and realized my mic was set to 25% for one game. So only 2 games ): sorry.

As soon as I get unlimited internet I would love to watch. I applaud you for trying something new as I think a lot of low players are scared to do these kind of things. Keep this up and you may become a better players as well as a better caster.

I wasn't talking replays but was saying if you want to do live games - so through your eyes - you could record the video then later while watching the video you can commentate it
For example Psy starcraft has done a few and you can search for HDStarcraft's daily ladder series for examples of what i'm talking about.
And definitely check things before you go encoding / uploading them
Don't forget to keep the original unencoded files for a while too just in case there was a problem with encoding.

Hmm true, but I want it to be kinda educational, I like to think of myself to have a little bit of knowledge of the game, I can express it without have to concentrate on the game itself.
Doing it truly live, it shows the thought process of me -at- that time if I decide to talk :P, and when I do go quiet, it's either I'm lost for words or I am concentrating, if it is the later then people go 'what's he looking at that his concentrating on' or hopefully xD. It kinda draws them into thinking 'what can this person be doing?/What is his decision for doing that?'
At least that's my aim, to get people to think with me. Or at least that's my cover up (x
Hey guys! Just an update, 3 videos enque to encode, and while they're uploading I will do a "How to" and it will be on how to make an analysis of a replay, watching both yourself, and your opponent.
