Tt eSPORTS Twitch.tv Channel - Going into overdrive!
Hey all,
Streaming worldwide is massive at the moment, people like Destiny from SC2 make a living from it and all large tournaments are now streamed online. But, you barely see anything in poor old Aus/NZ.
To try and rectify this, I had an idea. Why not use the resources available to me to promote streaming within Australasia? So that's what I'm doing.
We started off with a Monday night Tt Underdog Show match in SC2, then started running a Bi-Weekly eSports show on different topics every second Thursday, but I decided to up the ante and get it cranking.
The Saturday show is not finalised yet, so if anyone from the community is willing to commit to 4 Saturday shows in a row, please PM me with your idea and we can look at facilitating this!
Below you can find what we are looking to stream, on what days, which game and who is running it.
Monday
Tt Underdog Challenge (SC2) – Derek ‘Dox’ Reball (9pm)
Starting at 9PM each Monday, upcoming and unknown members from the SC2 community get a chance to take on the best SC2 players to prove their worth in front of an audience. We chose the competitor and if they win, they get a free Challenger Keyboard or ISURUS In-Ear headset. (This is shoutcasted)
Tuesday
Tuesday night team games (SC2) – Derek ‘Dox’ Reball (9pm)
The poor old team format of SC2 is commonly shoved out of the lime light. Dox will be shoutcasting some fun 2v2 matches between good and.. not-so-good players of the SC2 SEA community.
Wednesday
SQL.LoL show matches (LoL) – SQL LoL team (8pm)
Sequentials LoL team have proven themselves to now be the best team in Aus/NZ. They will be streaming live matches against other top Australian and North American teams. Want to know how the best play ingame from their eyes? Check this one out.
Every 2nd Thursday
Bi-Weekly eSports show (All games) – Chris 'Mayo' Smith and David 'Triumph' Rutter (8:30pm)
Due to the lack of easily accessable eSports information in Australia, we have decided to roll it all into one show. Each week encompasses general Aus/NZ eSports topics (new tournaments, events, competition results, new teams etc) and then focuses on one general topic, a competitive game.
The first episode saw Mindfreak eSports' 'DluX' join us for a chat about BF3 and how they are preparing for the competition, there will be plenty more video's and lol's to come!
Every other Thursday
SQL.HoN matches (HoN) – Matt ‘Minortotemzz’ Brimson (8pm)
A new edition to the Sequential roster, the HoN team have shown a passion for helping out the community and streaming. They will also be streaming POV HoN games against other top teams with some funny commentating to be thrown in also.
Friday
SQL.SC2 Practice session (SC2) – Phil ‘inFeZa’ Bertino (8:30pm)
Ever wanted to know how the top level SC2 players Practice? How do they learn to produce SCV's whilst harassing an enemy's base? How do they know when to expand to boost their economy?
Well, these questions can be answered by watching the stream. The SQL SC2 guys will show you how they hone their skills and get ready for the next big tournaments whilst answering your questions in the stream chat.
Saturday
Saturday Show Day (All games) - Different hosts each week
This is something that is in production, as I mentioned above, if anyone is keen to take this slot of the next 4 weeks, please PM me your idea. (Please be prepared to have all information present and be ready to run the show yourself).
The general idea for the Show day is to run a different game's show match each week, where we shout cast 2 top Australian/NZ teams battling it out against each other.
Sunday
Sunday Night CS:S (CS:S) – Avant Garde
In light of my previous 'strat night' thread on GotGames, Avant Garde have kindly stepped in to fill the gap until something is Solidified. They will be running a show like Sequential's SC2 idea. They will be showcasing how a high level Counter Strike: Source team hones their teamwork and strategy live on air in one of their 'prac sessions'.
When each show commences, the respective show leaders will take care of the promotion and updates of their show. So please keep checking your major forums for updates. I have listed the most likely portals below and for what game.
What a packed schedule. Good variety of shows and it's nice that viewers get to see many casters host every day. I am looking forward most to Monday and Friday.
They will be streaming every Wednesday starting around 8:30pm and also at random times during the day. So if you 'follow' the channel you will know when it's going live - www.twitch.tv/TteSPORTS
They will also be giving away 1x $20 www.MWave.com.au voucher and another $20 from League of Legends Australia.
2nd Bi-Weekly eSports show VoD is up! - http://www.twitch.tv/ttesports/b/300818121
The Topic was SC2, the guests were ArcMSI Pinder and TtPiG.
Karath managed to win BOTH the prizes as well, but decided to give one of his prizes to a 2nd placed guy.
Unfortunately the viewer count is VERY low for this show and I'm really not sure why.
Unfortunately unless the viewers bump up we are going to have to can it after a few episodes as the sponsors won't be happy with the little exposure.
So any help with promotion or any idea's to make the show better would be awesome
I feel this is what we need to help grow eSports in our area, so I hope you guys too.
Yeah, I hope you take VOD views into account as well. I know a few people who can't watch live but always watch the VOD.

Don't stop the show because purely of viewer counts. Day9 once said he had almost nobody watch his show when he first started, but he stuck at it and now look where that's taken him.

I was supportive before... but now I'll let my cynical realism take over...
The show is too broad. I am watching it to be supportive, but to be honest, I could not possibly care less about any of the content related to FPS games, or really, anything on that show not SC2 related.
eSports is still kind of niche, but it's similar to real sports in at least one sense. I'm never going to sit here and tell you about how much I like 'sports'. I love some sports... I love watching them, but you can't really blanket it like that. Maybe some people do love all sports, or all eSports, but I'm sure they're in a minority.
It will be hard to engage a large group of viewers on a regular basis if they don't feel connected to half of the show. There's a good chance they will just tune out when have finished whatever content they are interested in. Harder to develop that loyalty from viewers when they just don't care about, or don't even watch, half of the show.
I think you guys are actually pretty damn good hosts. The quality of the show, and the sound and everything are really good. But even though I've 'watched' all of it so far, I haven't really paid much attention to bits not about SC2. For people who don't know the producers and are trying to support them, they will likely just switch off if there's a lot of content that doesn't interest.
Cynical realism ftw mate, nothing's gonna get better if you sugarcoat everything
So your suggesting that when we cover one topic, we cover it in full and not the rest?
I guess the main idea for this was, have everyone tune in at the start and listen to all of the results around the board, everything from HoN to CSS, then we move into the main topic.
Kinda like the news, you may watch to see whats going on in your home town, but you hear about stuff overseas too (it's the best way I can explain it).
I would like to see if I can find a way around it though, but that's my thoughts
Have to agree with Erasmus, I largely watched the last episode purely because PiG was on it. The episode before that I watched cause I like you guys. It's not going to be easy but if this site is going to be one of your main advertising sites then the show really needs to focus on SC2.
I don't really know how to do this tbh, but I think the problem is it's too broad to keep everybody interested all the time.

My suggestion for the strategy show would be don't overcomplicate it.
I tuned in for a little bit last Friday and i saw ninja playing some micro map with the rest watching, which not only seemed like a bit of a waste of time for the players but also a waste for the viewers too, i mean, just mentioning the map in passing would be enough as opposed to watching a guy micro a fight (which in this certain scenario was a pretty unrealistic fight, we then watched him run a super-fast roach around dodging banelings.. wat?)
My 2c on what the friday night shows should be is just 1 matchup focus between 2 players and whoever else wants to be there, like, have say yang and ninja next friday night solely playing a few pvz's, and then discussing, in depth, the flaws and strengths of their play, the ways in which the map shaped their strategy (or didn't and perhaps a mistake to play a certain way on a certain map) etc.
benefits:
I feel like that would be actually beneficial to the players
really good educational value for viewers (instant analysis from 2 high level players)
viewers know instantly what theyre going to get (analysis and games of XvsY matchup, so they know if they want to tune in or not straight away)
Simple entertainment of watching games while the 2 play the said matches with infeza commentating
cons:
Might result in less viewers as 1/3rd of people (and, if you decide to do mirror matchups, 2/3rds) won't be interested in matchup analysis that doesn't involve their own race
May get stale after doing the exact same format week in week out
