hey people from sydney. I am interested to know how many people would travel to wollongong- (30 mins from Sutherland) to participate in a sc2 comp with prizes included and divisions organised in different comps. Since there is not many people who will organise these lans in sydney based areas, we have a crew in wollongong to organise it all but it depends on the amount of people involved.

whats your thoughts?

Going all the way down to Wollongong for a lan is a bit of a hassle. Whether or not I would turn up will depend on what the prizes are.

ok well the prizes depend on people so the more people interested in only driving half an hour to an hour will be greatly appreciated for the comp since we have good organisers to make this happen monthly.

Ok so the venue will be a similar style setup to the sgl.org.au gamers league comp.
we will hire out a hall with a entry fee and create a good system setup for the comp

and the only reason i thought maybe wollongong is because these organisers are from here and have run successful lans over the past.

I just need (voters) and lots of them to see what can be done.

Sneak make sure you post on all the sc2 websites as each community site usually only has a limited number of sc2 players particularly from Sydney.

Cybergamer, SEA bnet forums, Clan TA website etc!

I think you should release some information about the prizes and then make a poll to see how many people would turn up to compete or spectate it.

Look at this from the OP/organizers' points of view. As an example, if you have 5 people show up, charge a $10 entrance fee, and have literally no costs to calculate in...then you'd have a $50 prize pool to distribute. This is, of course, assuming the organizers aren't shelling out money themselves. If you have 100 people at the same amount, it's $1,000. Thus why he's asking about attendance before discussing prize pools or entrance fees or the like--it would be very difficult to give any sort of estimation without having the necessary information.
