if you run out of drinks before you finish your race, you are disqualified
Welcome to the Australian National Championships of Donkey Kong Country.
Tonight, four of the best Australian gamers will be competing in this years official Donkey Kong Country race on SNES emulators, kicking off at 9:30pm AEST tonight, and it's shaping up to be an event not to miss.
The Rules:
All players must have a livestream (of which there will be a 'central' stream, which will have all four streams displayed along with commentary from all 4 players plus whoever else is in the TA teamspeak channel)
All players must be in teamspeak for the duration of the race
All players must reset their emulators at 9:30 AEST together as counted-down in teamspeak.
All players must say atleast 3 derogatory comments to each other player in the race before they finish or they will be disqualified.
Use of the 'save state' function, or any emulator function that you would not be able to do in a snes is considered cheating.
Use of the 'warp glitch' is not allowed.
The first player to defeat the final boss is considered the winner.
The Competitors:
Cameron 'TAEdgE' Murrin "Oh he does that? I do that too! I like him, i feel better now."
Our first competitor should be no stranger to the SC2SEA community. Coming 2nd in the first ever SC2SEA SEASL and playing as TA's clutch player in their amazing, outstanding, incredibly, holy-shit-those-guys-are-awesome win in the SEA Clan League, he is sure to bring his clutch ability to the country of donkey kongs in this intense race.
Strengths:
Ability to pick up games fast
Quick learner
Good hand eye co-ordination
Strong under pressure
Weaknesses:
Has never played Donkey Kong Country
Has no experience speed running
Has no controller and must use keyboard.
Odds: 10-1
Maxwell 'TAKrUnch' O'Callaghan "ummmm, whats up?"
TAKrUnch, a grandmaster level zerg player who rates rather highly within the ranks of TA, is no stranger to Donkey Kong Country or hardship, having suffered much rage at the hand of TAEdgE over HoN disputes, he will definitely have motivation to defeat Cameron in this and achieve the title of greatest Australian Donkey Kong Country player.
Strengths:
Only player to have 100%'d Donkey Kong Country.
Has completed Donkey Kong Country and it's sequals multiple times
Determined to prove he's "Not crap at every game"
Weaknesses:
Crap at every game
Voice does not match his picture
No speedrunning experience
No controller and must use keyboard.
Odds: 4-1
Timothy 'TAcosmic' Roots
"Fifty-three Thousand"
A big fan of speedruns and a talented zerg player for TA, Mr.Roots will be looking to take his experience in speed running Donkey Kong Country 2 and apply it to the original game to take home the gold in this event. The Odds-on favorite, he'll definitely be the competitor to beat.
Strengths:
Experience speedrunning Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3
Very experienced in mechanics of the Donkey Kong Series
Has a lot of experience in retro-gaming
Has an awesome last name
Weaknesses:
Thinks Super Mario Bros 2 is actually a good game
Has never played Donkey Kong Country 1 before
Has no controller and will have to use the keyboard
Looks too smug in his picture
Odds: 3-1
Jonathan 'JP$' Pinder "Cosmic if you use savestates I'm going to kill you"
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. This player has an adept knowledge of speedruns and is a respected and highly regarded member within the speedrun community.
With his successes as a professional Mario64 speedrunner, Pinder knows what it means to race against the clock. With his analytical mind and ability to solve problems on the fly, Pinder will be coming into this as a fan favourite.
Strengths:
Extremely talented Mario64 speedrunner.
Great decision maker
Excellent memory when rehearsing runs
Has a controller, not required to use keyboard
Has exceptional jawline and cheekbones
Weaknesses:
Unfamiliar with the DKC franchise
Overconfident at times leading to poor decisions
Can fold under pressure
So who will take hold the golden banana? Who will collect the most K-O-N-G's? Who will haunt diddy kong the most by having his father die infront of him over and over and who will rage quit the race before even finishing? Tune in tonight and find out and be sure to leave us a comment below with who you're cheering for and why!

Wait, there are people that actually like SMB2?!?!?
It does not matter what the thing is, I believe that it is possible to find at least one person that likes it. The big trick here is whether he's talking about the Japanese or Western version of SMB2.

he's talking western, lost levels was actually a sick game.

Agreed. Shame the general consensus was that Lost Levels was "too hard" compared to the orignal SMB. I don't particularly like SMB2 it's just such a terrible and clumsy game that I want to learn how to speedrun it lol.
Krunch is going to do better than everyone thinks because a voice that doesn't match that face is most likely a high-pitched whiny voice which will in turn distract the other players in either sexual or non-sexual ways.
Cosmic is gonna get uprooted (pun for the win) and his smug come-at-me-bitch face is gonna turn into that of a sad panda's face.
Pinder is a piss-chugging chump-diggity (look it up on urbandictionary fools) but he's so godamn full of leet win that there's no point in anyone trying.
So....
Once Edge figures out that 10:1 is tough odds he will go back to laddering on SC2
Krunch will stay the longest because his whiny high-pitched voice gives him a chance.
Cosmic, being uprooted and a sad panda, will do what sad panda's do.
Pinder is going to continue to be a chump-diggity after he wins.

drinking rules all good except for the if someone dies you drink. that rule it self ( if people take it seriously) should eliminate anyone carrying under 20 drinks.
Slight delay as we wait for cosmic to get back from the shops with his drinks. sorry bout the delay, shouldnt be long~! in mean time you can watch twitch.tv/xghpinder for pre-game stuff
Firstly, a BIG thankyou to all who tuned in for this!
Official Placings:
1st - Bigman Krunch: Came in as the underdog, but his previous DKC plays have paid off. Definately deserving of first place, his game knowledge was superb. Had no real trouble with the game, and led the whole way through. Congratulations to Krunch!
2nd- Tie!! A huge comeback by Cosmic was on the cards as he flew through the final levels after struggling hard to come to grips with the alcohol content of Wild Turkey early on. Pinder the strategist that he is, tailed slightly behind Krunch, learning and mimicing what he saw through Krunch's stream. However this was of no help as he struggled for hours at a particular level, while Cosmic slugged away from behind to edge even closer. Pinder and Cosmic duked it out right at the very end as Krunch clocked the game to try and see who could take 2nd place on their last life, but it was not to be. Strong effort from both!
4th- EdgE: Being the battler that he is, EdgE came into this with no idea what to do. Coming to terms with his poor performance, he began to alternate between Goldeneye007 and various adult media sites to calm himself. While Krunch conquered the game, EdgE was finishing the 2nd world. Great showing by EdgE, but better luck in the next event!
Once again a big thankyou to all who tuned in and spent their friday night with us! Also a shoutout to Nirvana who got my stream up and listed on SC2SEA.
It was definately a fun filled night for the boys, albeit extremely rage-inducing, but at the end, it was all a great laugh.
Cheers!
Congratulations to TAKrUnch who finished in 1st place, me and cosmic tied second at world 5 level 2, and cam who i dont think made it to the save point of level 2.
alladin, megaman number somthing, mariocart (snes) , earth worm gym, super mario, the lion king, goldern eyes ( will rpobably be played next ), chrono trigger, battle toads ( thanks to someone suggesting in chat )
To clarify, it'd be super mario world, as i know super mario bros 1, 3 and 64 too well, super mario bros 2 is too aweful and lost levels would result in all of us having liver failure from gaming over.
