Diablo Inferno Down (Solo DH) - [WARNING SPOILERS]
Yes, a bit slow but finally got the bastard down (solo). After so many attempts I thought I'd just brag here with a thread (and describe the build I used a little). This boss encounter is really ANNOYING!
Here is my skill setup + dps. With sharpshooter, dps shows as 137k - however it was worth using tactical advantage instead (you really need to escape with speed throughout this fight). Could use vault alternatively perhaps, but I haven't tried.
Stats/DPS:
Skills/Runes:
Why I used these skills:
Hungering Arrow [Cinder Arrow]: Good single-target dps output and hatred generator. Puts a dot that can damage the boss while you aren't casting + has a chance to hit the boss twice (35% pierce chance). This means even if you don't aim directly at the boss, i.e. miss, you still have a 35% chance of hitting him. Nether Tentacles: Hits target multiple times due to its slow speed. Very high dps output using this. Smoke Screen[Special Recipe] - Only had 38 discipline, wanted to reduce its cost with the rune. Why I used smoke screen? Pretty self explanatory. Preparation [Invigoration] - Restores full discipline. With this rune, adds an extra 10 discipline to your max discipline for 5 seconds. This REALLY helps in panic situations where you are out of disc, you can cast preparation and then smoke screen straight after for a free smoke screen (pretty much). Rain of Vengeance [Flying Strike]: This skill can actually stun the boss / shadow clones. I didn't RELY on this, because the shadow clones can still get a shot off in between the flying demon things stunning it - but it can really save you sometimes. The clones spawn at: The start of phase 2, 66% shadow diablo's health, and around 33% (or a bit lower) health. Whenever vanishes, I cast the rain of vengeance where I am standing, since the clone spawns nearby. Then I smoke screen and run off and pray. Companion [Bat companion] - So I can span nether tentacles when I get the chance
This fight is all about MOVING. Gotta keep moving.
Maybe I'll try again at some point and record it - but youtube has many videos on it. I'm just glad it's over for now .
P.S. The bow I used is a 1.3k dps 2h crossbow. However, my dps was WAY higher than what is needed for this fight so don't let that discourage you or anything. People with 30-40k dps can kill this boss (maybe even less, idk). It's more about your play-style than dps.
Woo, congratulations! The only minuscule piece of advice I can offer, is that by using Smoke Screen (ideally with the increased duration) each time Diablo vanishes in the nightmare realm, it allows you to get the jump on your shadow clone without taking any damage. It can't see you, so it just stands around aimlessly. For this reason I used the Fan of Daggers Rune for the 65% stun chance, and followed up with the Elemental Arrow with the Chance-to-Fear Rune. This allowed me to essentially ambush my Shadow Clones without them even firing off a shot.
Obviously not necessary for you to kill him, but a tip for others attempting him!
Gratz on finally downing Diablo in inferno.
Tried to party with you but could only reach phrase 2.
Glasscannon ftw!
Some tips for DH on Diablo
- Stutter step micro preferably with a 2handed crossbow. Because of the slow attack speed, distance per stutter step is more efficient.
- Run from fireball shots sideways perpendicular to diablo. Try not run backwards or towards him.
- Do not underestimate the floor fire range. Smoke if you have to.
- Speed gear will help alot.
- Shoot away from screen range. Shift-left click. Use minimap to guide your shooting.
- When Diablo is at a far enough range, he can teleport and jump right on you. Possible to evade this attack with speed gear or just smoke away to a safer distance.
- Don't let him attack at all. Even thou you dodge his attack, he can cast an ignite debuff that will do dps till you die.
- Make use of the map. In phrase 1, there are two crystals. Use this as pillars to obstruct Diablo's fire.
- Run from clones. They will dissapear in approx 30secs. DH clones just deal shitload of damage.
I give tips like this to myself when I die so I can take note of it next time. 60% of death just happens when you run out of discipline. 25% of deaths happen in the first 60secs.
Gonna working on my dps as it is nowhere as close as arma.
How I dealt with clones: I killed them. I didn't run away from them / hide till they despawn.
As soon as diablo shadow vanishes, I pop smoke screen so my clone's initial attack doesnt hit me. Then I stutter step + attack side ways (Perpendicular to the direction my clone is facing) whilst spamming my smoke screen button. I make sure I am a good distance away using my initial smoke screen: too close = impossible to dodge the projectiles. Just gotta keep moving in a zig zag perpendicular to where the clone is shooting + keep spamming smoke screen. I used nether tentacles to kill them so usually took about 2 smoke screens per clone (2-3 nether tentacles pretty much killed them for me). I kill the clone before the boss shadow re-appears, so didn't really have to deal with both at the same time. The shadows spawn at: start, 66% and I think 33% (or a bit lower).
