So first off I want to say that overall I think these awards are fine. If you want to do community awards, feel free to organise it yourself (do it, awards are always fun). But I will agree with some criticism.

Firstly, only ToR and mGG nominated when at least TCP could have a nomination. SEACL also happened this year, you could talk about how IXL or aLt did and etc. Obviously mGG and ToR are clearly leaps and bounds above but these things should be nominated right.

I like how player of the year was done. I think it's fair to rate Kingkong as the beast of 2013. I kinda feel like the rest is sort of a top 5, which again I think is pretty accurate. You could argue between 2-5 but I think it's giving respect to their achievements and that's cool.

Best pro team, should've talked about the other nominees but yes fray clearly wins. (You need the comparison though, that's what makes it consistent. Some awards have it, others don't). Underrated player, i think Ender and lobo are both fair, petrify? I don't know. Probably could've included a few more people if you wanted (this category is always going to be from a certain perspective though so whatever).

Rookie of the year, includes me, but doesn't include other players that had similar years to me. Where is pezz? Where is MK? I don't understand how you get into this award. By showing great potential when you haven't befoe hence rookie? I prefer last years category, most improved rookie. (Side note, fighto should probably be in underrated player although again that's from my pov).

Breakthrough tournament performance suggest there should be a tournament to go with it. Last year we saw pet at eswc, targa at gesc, ninja at acl Sydney and so on. This year we have... Literally nothing. Just a gif. Just. A. Gif. It should go something like last years. Show what they're nominated for, then have a description of why them at that particular peformance was a breakout. Then you can put the gif in a spoiler under winner and under the gif, NXZ at ACL Brisbane.

I enjoyed the awards I think they're really cool and I'm very happy to win one but when only one or two categories have worthwhile descriptions then it's pretty dumb. It should be a cool historical reference too. I can look back at last year and remember oh yeah ninja had that awesome run at acl Sydney, or pet was actually awful until like September .


Also If we want to do community awards, I don't see why we can't just set them up, I don't know how sc2sea polls work but you could use straw polls or whatever. To be honest I'm keen to go ask glade, kk, pig, pet and iaguz who their top 10 players are and go all kez up in this, because reading the power rank last year was FUN. Sure it made drama but I think it was a worthy addition.
