So, during the beta I use to play SEA, when NA become available I switched to NA. I came on to today to check the SEA ladder and noticed that I have roughly a 1 second delay on SEA which I don't have on NA.. where is the server hosted at? I'm under the assumption that the server is hosted in Aus which is why I'm so curious as to why its laggy.
I ended up going on NA to see if it was me lagging and realised there was no lag on NA, so not sure wtf is going on =\
Yeah, almost definitely your ISP. Some people connect better to NA others to SEA. Personally I connect pretty well to both.

I rarely have lag on SEA and im with telstra. it probably has something to do with your ISP and where your signal is sent to connect to the SEA servers.
Just to reiterate what cute said, it depends which international pipe your connects go through. You should be able to find a map on the net somewhere of all the major pipes around aus and how we're all connected.
It's actually quite interesting and then you can make better decisions about which servers/mirrors to choose and stuff, yay
this is just a theory but i believe the reason people on Optus lines get horrible 400+pings to SEA is due to optus singtel owning a 40% share in southern cross cable which is the main international pipe out of sydney to america/hawaii. It is much cheaper to rout traffic through there then the AJC cable which is near capacity and is much more expensive then SCC. people in WA though with optus lines may go through the SMW cable that heads to asia/europe so their pings are fine. As for why they dont rout through the relatively new PPC-1 cable i have no idea as both it and the AJC have a pop in guam.
I'm with Telstra and I get a much more responsive connection to SEA, something like 120ms compared to 220ms on NA.
It might not sound like much but 100ms is quite a noticeable delay. If anyone has played single player recently you'll notice how crisp and responsive everything feels compared to a multiplayer match. Unless you live in Singapore...

How did u test your ping?
I'm on a local Canberra ISP - runs through Telstra, but I lag on SEA and not on NA )=

Open a cammandand use tracert.
The command is "tracert us.battle.net" and "tracert sea.battle.net".
The last ping time is your ping to the server.
Mine are 219 to us and 133 to sea.
ISP's like Telstra / iinet / internode have lines going to signapore and NA so you get really good pings to sea (under 100 normally) and a reasonable ping to NA. ISP's like optus / vodaphone are abit on the cheap side and only have lines going to NA so for you to connect to SEA your internet packets are leaving aus via the line to NA , gonig down to signapore then back up to NA then back to aus.... hence the terrible lag . Where as other isps just use the line going directly to singapore area.
