Hey guys! Whats up? For those of you who doesn't know me I'm Unthunder.917 of the Perth Penguins I'm well known for raging a lot and always get rage comparisons with EG's IdrA not with skills though. Anyway I've been trying to control my rage for some time now but I'm kinda struggling, I lose to some cheesy build I rage, I lose to something I think is OP I rage, I lose to something I think is annoying I rage. I also rage in tournaments like the BSG and GPD just to mention a few.
so do you guys have any suggestion on how to control my anger or at least reduce the raging??
firstly, your gold league - nothing is OP.. your skill isn't pushing the boundaries of the game balance.
Claiming something is OP is showing an external locus of control.. you need to look into your own game for improvement - take the loss as something to learn from. It's just a game after all... But rage is just a sign of passion - ala tgun.. some people give him shit for raging and what not, but it's not that - he's a guy that puts alot of effort and passion into his game.. That passion and effort often pours out at the end as rage or if you win - a happy dance.
In short, learn from your losses - if it is vs Cheese, scout it and stop the cheese. If it is a unit that you failed to deal with in your tech timings (say, you didn't get AOE units vs Terran or something that can kill broodlords, it's not that the Terran bio is OP either are broodlords, you just didn't engage them properly and/or with the right units.
Other than that, when you feel yourself rage, have something on your desk you can draw your attention to, a toy of sorts or crossword or something, just to turn your mind away from the game to settle down.. I dunno man.. just chillax, more gg more skill..
rage only comes to me when ego comes into the equation (i shouldnt lose to this, this guys a retard, wtf is he doing)
it stopped when i stopped caring about losing by using that to improve, dunno if you're similiar or not
edit: also had a punching bag - shit was sooooooooo helpful, expend all the energy and anger out on it
Ok, I know just what to do. Everytime you lose to something, after you get out of the game, don't think about the anger or anything (so as to stop yourself BMing). Just move away, do 5 pushups, situps and jumping jacks. Then take a drink of water, get a pen and some paper, and go through the replay noting all your mistakes. GUARANTEED TO WORKS
I have Rage problems as well... not so much as raging at the other guy but more of at myself, for making mistakes and it gets detrimental for my play as i go on... Haven't found any way to deal with the rage though
