[Tutorial]How to find Liquipedia data quickly in Chrome
Not sure if this any use to anyone but I use it because I hate trying to find pages in the liquipedia database.
Also mods, if this is in the wrong forum please move to correct
We are going to harness the power of Google OmniBox to allow quick info retrieval from the Team Liquid Liquipedia Database.
First step is to open up Chrome Settings.
You can do that via 2 main ways:
Paste 'chrome://settings/' into address bar
On Windows: Press Alt + F -- or first method
On Mac: Press Command + , -- or first method
Which will open up this page and we are going to select the highlighted 'Manage Search Engines' button..
Which will lead us to this custom search engine modal. You may have some entries in the 'Other search engines' area, just scroll to the bottom to add a new entry
So pretty simply put,
the first column is the pretty name to use;
second column is the shortcut you will be using;
third column is the url that we will be searching (more on this)
The Liquipedia software, MediaWiki gives you 2 options built in to find/search the database. One is a 'Go' button which is googles equivalent of "I'm Feeling Lucky", and the 'search button' will just return normal listings.
We can also leverage Google to do the seraching of the database, which I think is a much more reliable method. (spider crawler vs fulltext search)
So we have 4 options to use, and its up to you which one is up to you just comes down to personal preference.
Straight up google results
{google:baseURL}search?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwiki.teamliq uid.net%2Fstarcraft2%20%s
I'm Feeling Lucky google results
{google:baseURL}search?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwiki.teamliq uid.net%2Fstarcraft2%20%s&btnI
