$1000+ Hairy Smash End Of Year Tournament - Initial Information
Hey All!
As you may (or may not) know, I'm organising a series of 6 tournaments over the course of 2014. (and hopefully beyond) These are the Hairy Bash tournaments, with 1 being held every 2 months and each having a $175 prize pool, along with 260 OSC points. (The first tournament is here and starts this Saturday. )
In addition to these tournaments I will also be holding another tournament to culminate the preceding ones... the Hairy Smash!
The final details haven't been worked out yet, but I've worked out most of the details, and the following should not change unless something really drastic pops up:
Date
End of December 2014/Start of January 2015
Format
16 Player Double Elimination Bo3
Prize Pool
$1000+, spread across all 16 players
Qualification
This tournament is invitational only. Players will qualify by placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in one of the Hairy Bashes.
Note that only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive an spot... spots will not be passed down to other players if 1st, 2nd, or 3rd already has a spot from a previous tournament.
If, at the end of the year, there are still spots remaining, the highest ranked players on the OSC who are not already participating will be invited to the tournament.
Seeding
Players will be seeded in the tournament using OSC points, however only OSC points gained in one of the Hairy Bash tournaments will be considered.
I will try my very best not to start calling them Hairy Points, and I encourage you to do the same. :P
I will add a final post someways down the track, but for now the seeding from the Hairy Bash tournaments is pretty much set in stone, which is the important bit.
Special Note: For you maths wizards out there who've figured out that 6x3 is 18, yes there is a possibility of having too many players qualifying if every Hairy Bash tournament has a unique set of winners.
If this miracle happens to occur, there will be a Round Robin Bo3 series between all the players whose best qualification from a Hairy Bash tournament was 3rd place. (i.e. Didn't qualify 3rd and then 1st in another Hairy Bash later on.) From that Round Robin, the lowest overall scoring players will be eliminated to bring the total players left to 16.
Bash on guys and girls! I will see you in the first Hairy Bash this Saturday!

Just noticed the prize pool increased to $1000+. This is so amazing just solely on the fact that you're organising it by yourself (?)
I work full time as well as casting, so as long as I restrain myself from spending too much on computer hardware I should be able to save the money up.
I just bought a GTX780 Ti recently, so that should last me for a while.
Note that only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive an place... if one of those players already has a place, then that place will not be given to 4th place instead.
In some tournaments they will always give out 3 places, and if someone in the top 3 already had a spot (from a previous tournament for example) they would give that spot to someone lower down in the tournament instead.
For my tournament that wouldn't happen, the spot would just not be given out at all.
Example:
Hairy Bash 1: Petraeus, PiG and Sage come 1st, 2nd, and 3rd... all 3 get a spot.
Hairy Bash 2: PiG, Fenner and EnDerr come 1st, 2nd and 3rd... only 2 ppl would get a spot, because PiG already has one.
... I think I will reword it in the main post, it isn't written in the best way

If you (or anyone else) has any questions I will answer them if I know the answer, at this stage there will be very little that I will know or can make a decision about, other than stuff like exact dates, steaming, exact prize pool. (I do plan to have a streamer but that will be organised MUCH closer to the date)
This tournament displays a whole new list of finalists, with Spear (powerHM) coming in 1st place.
Coming in 2nd place is Wally, a regular from previous Hairy Bash tournaments, this is his first top 3 finish so far. And rounding it off is sWs, who came in 3rd place after a great run.
