With WCG 2011 including SC2: WoL into their line up, I think it's time for us to move as a community to create a unified team to better represent the region.
With Singapore hosting some WCG events, I'm pretty sure that, as interest increases around the event, sponsors will also come out of the woodwork. I will look into getting sponsors for SC2 players in Singapore. Maybe SC2SEA should look into a partnership with a site that might provide video streaming, bandwidth and stuff like that. No doubt there are already sponsors for the site, but I think it's time to step up.
What will be needed:
A backgrounder on SC2SEA - basically numbers: when it was started, how many hits and members this place gets, what are the projected membership numbers, target audience that kind of thing.
A marketing proposal - basically what this site (or team) can offer to sponsors. I don't mind doing this kind of thing, but I need to know the above.
A contact list - people who might be interested in the publicity. Since RTS gamers tend to be a different breed from other, insta-gratification, FPS or RPG types, we can be sure that certain companies will be poaching these kinds of people (for example, a lot of competitive SC2 players are programmers or have logic-based specialisations like mathematics, computer science or engineering).
A wish list - what you want from the sponsors. It doesn't really matter what you want since it will be negotiated down. So just knowing what's needed, what's wanted and what can be left behind is just so helpful.
Finally, some thick skin and hard work - yup, all we need to do is call and get them interested. Once they're willing to meet, it'll be easier to get them to agree to something.
Let me know if you guys think, or if you can help.
With any business proposal you need to go through a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis. You may be surprised at some of the strengths or opportunities the SEA may be able to offer the person u are proposing to. The other thing people think about is risk, what they get for taking the risk, and how much is it going to cost (money and/ or resources) - so you need to have a clear idea on these parameters.
If u are sincerely interested in helping out, you should PM me a proper poposal on how you intend to help cause i can provide you all the figures and other information you might need including contact lists/marketing proposals which cant be displayed publicly in the forum etc
