I'll try and do the little write ups for DeathWing later tonight.. (don't expect the match ups done by 9pm either.. I've hardly recieved many 3-4 tops.. and I'll be busy tonight.
Some really interesting teams this week following the results of the interesting games last week. quick prediction as i dont really have time this week:-
Zerocraft v ToR
ToR have come out with what looks like their A Team lineup. with Breadfan, who really is playing at plat lvl, leading them off, this ToR team is looking to KO another of the top tier of teams, and really mess with the top 5. This is a seriously scary team from ToR, any of these 5 players on their day could have been the ace for ToR throughout the season. the fact that 5 are all in the same team.... scary. What's interesting though is that they havent swapped out two players from the team that beat Mixed Lollies last week, with Suipr, Breadfan, Deathsfang and JoFritzMD all backing up.
The question is, what can Zerocraft muster against this opposition? After being pushed waaaay too close against VB, and a demolition by Mixed Lollies (that ToR were able to beat), Zerocraft may be headed into this matchup as the underdogs - which is a strange enough statement in itself.
Look for big games from Spazznx , Suipr and Breadfan - these three games will probably determine the fate of the match. Deathsfang is really bloody good, so i would be plesantly surprised if SWAT is able to get him. And that only leave me and JoFrtiz, which i think will be a 2-0, one way or the other
Prediction: Weird game to come. I wouldnt be surprised whether it is 4-2 either way or maybe either 3-3. Zerocraft are trying a new guy in the form of Midas, so a bit of an unknown quantity.
Penguins v VB
VB are coming off a close few weeks, only just being pushed out my Zerocraft during the last game last week. But this week unfortunately they are up against a team that may finish first or second in the comp, with a stronger lineup than VB have been facing lately. the Penguins. These guys just dont lose, and they dont really look like losing any time soon. I think VB will just be outmatched in this one.
Will be interesting to see whether Zeffrin can follow up on his win last week against i random player i dont think i have seen before - invaderzim. However, no Dead and no Unique makes it pretty hard to pick VB this week
Prediction: Penguins 5 to def VB 1. Just cant see the Penguins letting VB into this match
FaDe v Mixed Lollies
I really expected Mixed Lollies to pick a different team this week to bounce back from their shock loss to ToR - but they have persisted with 4 of the same players, being Reaper, Upwaiting, Cold and Fridge. ReverseCure, despite winning his game last week, got the week off.
For Fade i have been saying it for weeks, but i really like deadpixel and welshy - and according to rezyn's stats these guys have been the stars for FaDe in what has been a rough season.Dont be surprised if these guy guys sneak in two wins from the 3rd and 4th spot. salsaVision is also pretty strong in the ace position.
But Mixed Lollies are at the top of the competition for a reason, and Fridge's PvT is really good - so i think he might just have too much for salsavision. but that means 2-2 with the first and second matches deciding it all. And all 4 remaingn players are a bit of an unknown entity to me.
Prediction -i think this one might be an upset - 4-2 to Fade or a draw, with Fridge smashing through the ace match
TA v QED Krrn and Co
Last week, ToR showed us that no team was unbeatable, and i feel that Krrn and Co have come into this week with that same attitude. with two plats and a diamond, they have pretty much brought their A team to the table to try to get QED back into the black. With a tight loss to the Penguins last week with a weaker team, QED has the team to get the job done this week.
That being said, TA remain the favourites for this week being the only remaining undefeated team in the comp. But look at it this way:
- TA put their diamond in 4th spot, QED put theirs in 5th. 4th and 5th games are therefore vital to determine the match. for the Ace, Edarus is really good, but Schnitzel i feel is a whisker better. depending on who prepares and the maps, this one could go either way. i think schnitzel might just be a touch better - 2-1.
- for the fourth game, we have a zvz. Marine50 is a diamond, which is fantastic in iteslf, but Jenkins is really good at zvz also, disposing of Mazei from zerocraft 2-0 only two weeks ago. zvz is such a hard beast to predict, so i am not even gonna pretend to call it.
- Edaron might be a touch too strong for Cottonmouth, but then suddenly we have the madness that is PvP between Chadmann and Toybox. who knows what could happen.
- then the other game is Ridiculisk (a good brisbane boy i believe) vs intoccabile, a zvz
Prediction: anyone's guess. Hard to bet against TA, but with all the mirrors (two zvzs and a pvp), as well as the diamond for QED being in the ace position, it could be anything from TA 1-5 QED, to TA 6-0. I have no idea what will happen in this match.
TCP v Fusion Slugs
9th vs 11th may not see that exciting of a matchup, but from the lineups submitted, it appears both teams are taking it pretty sersiously. in the plats section, we have BenAD & Bonik vs Frogmite & Navic. Thould be good games, unfortunately for BenAD, navic is hella good. I am not sure how much Frogmite has been playing lately, especially in tvt in which you are tested all the time. tvt can go either way. Just both proxy 2 rax each other - it's what i do.
The other games should be really interesting also - with zomgrofl coming off a win last week, and all the TCP boys being refreshed from the week off. That being said about zomgrofl, Krycek is pretty good for a silver - he might be good enough to take this one out.
So there are 5 mirror matches this week - which means the best team really should win. No advantage to either team, the best players from each side will duke it out to see pound for pound who is the toughest.
A win here pretty much puts the wooden spoon out of reach - which both of these teams really want. BenAD is hungering for his first win of the season, and it may just be up to him to win the ace match and bring home the points for the Slugs
Prediction: draw, or TCP 4-2. i just think TCP has a better team ono paper

Excellent write up again Volition... it should be a great match tonight for us, but mirror matches can be so volatile. Especially ZvZ and PvP... Almost all equal ladder positions too...
I really hope we can pull off the win tonight, we will do our best.
I also like to say a huge thank you to TCPKrycek, who volunteered in advance that they were only going to play two platinums to make the match a lot closer. Hugely manner and so I wont be upset if they go on to win

i've told arnor about this last night when i first found out about the results, but me and midas has agreed to "switch" games...so i think ill be playing suipr while he'll be playing ace...shouldn't be a problem since we're fielding 2 plats only anyways... thanks
does this count as a "substitution" btw?
