Hi all I just finished making this table of what I hope is ideal unit counters. I am SURE that there are several improvements/changes/mistakes here, as I am only a bronze player and am quite inexperienced So i would really appreciate it if you tell me anything you think I should change as I am hoping the table will be able to help me improve
The file was too big to attach as either a word document or a jpeg, so I uploaded the word document to mediafire, here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?4fftdjc6rheag4r
You could have just screenshotted and uploaded. Here, did it for you:
Can be abit bigger, I just grabbed this screencaps in 1 minute without resizing it properly.
Some entries don't make much sense, like the 'ideal counter' against banelings was basically all air units?? It's a bit duh isn't it. A more sensible answer could be like, Roaches since they have higher HP, Marauders, for the same reason, and Sentries perhaps, as they can spam Forcefields.
And if we were to use your same logic, why is Broodlords the 'ideal counter' for roaches, but Mutalisk isn't? You see what I mean.
And also some are unrealistic - Thor's Ideal counter is Broodlords/Ultras.
It's a good initiative but I think you need to rework it quite abit - first you need to determine what the PURPOSE of this table is. For example, Is it to help decide which unit to get in response to you seeing your opponent's units? If this is the case, you shouldn't have BL/Ultras as Thor's ideal counter, but perhaps mass Roaches or Infestors+Neural. Similarly for Banelings you shouldn't list Mutalisks, but probably Roach or Infestors, etc.
But if it's just meant to be a fun table showing the hard counters etc, then yea go ahead and put all the air units as ideal counters for non-air attacking units, etc.
Next, you probably need to think through your justification for some of the entries. I haven't had a look thoroughly but I already see a few odd ones - e.g. Reaper being ideal counter for Banelings, Archons being the ideal counter for Ghosts (??? It seems like the other way round, one EMP and the archon is screwed), and Phoenix being the ideal counter for Zergling (??)

Marines are so good that they should even be in the Zerg and Protoss unit lists.
~edit: reaper the counter to tanks? Wut?

I think "Ideal" unit counters are useless, and you'd be better off mapping the most "economical" unit counters in terms of tech, cost and how micro intensive it is.

I agree, but like I said I'm not a good player, this was just meant to be a resource to help me improve, but that would be something I'd hope to make in the future
Well I guess its good for someone who has no RTS experience to take this first step of understanding what units are good for killing each other. Unfortunately Starcraft isn't rock paper scissors otherwise it would just be another one of those boring average RTS games.
I like your initiative, but yeah don't get trapped into the thought process of "this unit is making for my opponent, I need THIS!"
Honestly, I think all you really know is the armour types and bonuses. From there, you can weigh up your options and have the best overall army that suits your current plan (i.e. you probably dont want to be teching to thors AND battlecruisers because your opponent has banelings and corruptors out - they are too gas heavy with different upgrade paths)
Dude, Marines are the ideal counter to every unit in the game.
All jokes aside, to be fair there are no "ideal counters" to an unit, there are only units that are pretty good at going up against x unit and units that are bad against x unit. How can you tell which units? That mostly comes from experience.
Although, good initiative. Though I suggest that you look up more from major sources such as Blizzard's in-game help page and wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/ to improve your table.
EDIT: Just a quick suggestion: Maybe you should also put it some notes regarding going up against a specific unit. For example: On the "Marine" collumn of the table you should write something like:
PROTIP: Sieged Tanks don't like Marines, don't run your Marines into Sieged Tanks unless you severly outnumber them or something, or something like:
PROTIP: Don't clump up your Marines vs Banelings. Spread them out before engaging the Zerg army.
...despite being obvious for veteran players, I think it will help Bronze players a lot.
