I thought I would never make the switch. Its time to say good bye to good ol' brood war meta game and continue into the new world of starcraft 2 side of things. I will never quit brood war from casting but I'm done playing competivaly.
I ask you guys. Can you help me out learning the inerworkings of starcraft. I am going to be playing on SEA server from this point in time. No excuses. The only thing is I really haven't found a race yet...

only play on
I think you should stick with the same race you played in BW, and watch some game commentaries so you know what kind of strategies to expect and use on the ladder.
The scene on SEA is VERY zerg heavy. So if you are a fan of ZvZ , you're in luck!
Terran is next most common at the highest level, but very scarce in lower levels, whereas protoss is less seen at the top, but very common in lower levels.
I don't know what sort of info you really need - I don't want to assume you have 0 knowledge and I only played BW many many years ago.
Brief description:
Zerg = Heaviest macro, not much micro required comparatively
Protoss = The opposite of Zerg - simplest macro but the most micro intensive, also they are generally unkillable which is a nice quality if you like winning
Terran = a mix of the two with a lot of versatility in play style, they are more a jack of all trades (good at everything, amazing at something). Easy (easiest?) to learn, but the most difficult to master
Honestly, I think just pick one you are interested in playing. Whichever you choose, you will have that learning curve as you adjust to the new game mechanics, it will all end up the same
This is definitely me being biased as a Protoss player here, but I feel there is a higher skill ceiling with Zerg/Terran than there is with Protoss. If you enjoy playing toss though go for it ^_^

the terran one with most difficult to master isn't true they are all hard to master also protoss is easiest macro wise but hardest decision making wise. I'D suggest playing Random for a season then decide if you really want to play 1 race

I wouldn't say which is harder or not, its really all about personal opinion on which is harder to macro and which is easiest.
I must say though I think you should just experiment around and see which race suits you best
Haha, well I mained as Terran in bw, so maybe ill try to go terran in this game. I know sc2 I own like 5 copies of the fricken game but i never really tried to get good at it so wish me best of luck im gonna try to hit masters two years from now thats the hope!
I came from a SC:BW background over a month since I switched over I just played the race I played in BW which was Terran :P you seem to have played competitively for awhile I quit SC:BW for a year due to school was C rank on ICCUP got Platinum on my first go for season 5 I'm sure you will hit masters easily if you put in the effort

If you want to be like 95% of SEA server play Zerg!
If you want to be overpowered and mass marines like any OP player. play Terran.
OR
If you actually want to have fun and be good at the game while playing a race that requires skill. play the BROTOSS.
but seriously. I recommend playing a few games against Easy -medium AI . Work out the basic mechanics of each race in Starcraft II and then decide from there.
But in all . Make sure you are keeping ur passion for the game alive. There is no point playing the game if U don't enjoy it .
play protoss. there are almost no protosses at the top level in SEA, so the better you get, the less experience your opponents will have had with vsing protoss
