I've been asked to create a post about an upcoming event to see what interest there is from the community. The tournament is still in its early planning stages, and this is not a thread for details regarding the event or the sort.
There is talk that there may be a tournament to be held in Sydney which will serve as a offline qualifier at some point this year. The prize being an expenses paid trip to South Korea to compete in an International tournament (Like WCG i guess, but not WCG).
So basically just wondering if people would travel to participate in this event should it happen (so we get an idea of numbers) and if not, why?
I know I am being vague, but as there are few details at the moment, but that is simply as the event is in its planning stages still. Once/If the event gets planned, we will announce details as early as possible to give plenty of time to organize travel, and to avoid conflicts.
Yes, as a team manager I would also be willing to get qualified players to the event. Perhaps something similar to the GESC qualifiers online > offline finals could work in this situation?...
Paid trip to SK sounds like a pretty damn good prize. I'd think just about all of the top SEA players would go and anyone else who is starting to take their SC2 seriously, since going to SK to play SC2 would be a dream for most of them.
I'd like to go (depends on the date), but I'm also a poor student and chobo.
