I went to a hamlet that was a century and half ago just a "Mas" witch means in Occitan (old language of south of France) a farm. That Mas belong to my ancestors (mother side) and grow to a hamlet. It is about 500m in altitude.
It is surrounded by peaks the highest being 1700m (Mont Lozère).
So the south of the village belongs to cousins and one of the houses is mine. I went at least a few days there every summer of my memory except once (1999 in fact) since my childhood. So clearly, this is my roots and my place.
Since 10 years I go there with my best friend (and wedding witness) and his children (he divorced a few years ago). We met in high school (1988), so that's a very long time friend.
This is a very old house but our Elder knew how to make solid and useful houses and it is perfect for our time there.
Here are some pictures I took there: Clouds come to kiss the mountain. Picture taken from the Terrace of the house.
The moon rises after a torrid day.
Those pictures were taken at 1100m at one at my spiritual place 20 minutes away from home: Cécile in the silence of the mountains. We call her "Notre Dame des Cevennes".
My younger son scouting the landscape.
The elder one still fond of his mother. He's so tall now, I remember him when he was a small shrimp.
Pater familias with the kids
The whole clan !
My little girl picking berries
Back at home the weather was so hot, the children were spending 4 hours a day in the pool : Playing "water handball"
Or flying over it (the pool was being filled at that moment).
Some tennis too at the village (1,5 km away) :
I'm even crappier at tennis than as SC2.
One day we went to Sète, a Mediterranean French port for a trip on the boat of my main associate. He has the biggest pleasure boat of the port.
Yeah, that's a big boat.
And quick too !
Run baby, run ! I love this picture.
Jetskis were using our trail as jetski-jump
And we had the chance to cross the path of dolphins !
But when the night come, you just want to rest and ... ... to drink some wine my own cousin brew in his garden there !
But after this long talk, let's come back to Starcraft. My sons and me each play a different race at SC2, you will easily found out with those pictures: power !
finesse !
sneaky ! There is the Muta.
And now I'm here, alone as my family is still there for one week, facing SC2 as I'm rusty as hell (couldn't connect there and I had other things to do ... ) and knowing that .... ... long and hard is the road to Grand Master
This is such a fantastic blog!! Love the pictures of your family, thanks for sharing!
I especially liked the dolphins (the only ones ive seen are in zoo lol), the "muta", your daughter steering the wheel and the last grandmaster road pic! So good!
Awesome blog dude, and awesome pictures! That mountain scenery looks amazing! Hope you have an easy time getting back into SC & best of luck on your road to GM ^-^
Wow, that's an awesome looking place man. Very very nice! But I don't think I can live without the internets for a while. =P Unless I'm with truly excellent company. hehe... Love it.
Oh sorry I went on a school trip to the Cevennes. To be honest it was in the middle of nowhere, but it was definately in cevennes.
Really? I hated internet in Paris. I always found Orange's service to be shit, couldn't have the tv on and have internet connection at the same time -_-, and before we got it fixed, the internet would die whenever someone called. So glad I didn't really play competitively then or that no one called when i was playing ^^.
Then we switched to Free and only one computer could get internet, which was fine by me since I was the one who used it.
Je parlerais avec vous en francais, but my french is terrible^^.
Also SC2SEA doesn't have a french flag icon, we need to fix that for you
Orange is the worse Internet provider you could imagine. I have free at home and it works very well, but I think it might depends on the quality of the installation between the plug and the Internet facility where you were.
