Hey everyone I'm Patto! Currently a silver league Terran player, just looking to improve and become a larger part of the SC2Sea community. I was looking through some of the blogs that were being posted and I thought that it would have been good to look back on a blog that I had made when I get better (hopefully) and laugh at myself for being bad. So I'm using it primarily to map my progress over the time that I'm playing and to set myself goals but also to hopefully provide a good read to anybody who wants it.
Just recently I joined Clan ToR which has been amazing. Everybody in the clan was so welcoming when I first became a part of it. If I ever have a question that I'm stumped on, I can just ask and someone is happy to give me some advice.
I also just recently just played in my first game that wasn't ladder which was in the clan war vs FS. My matches were really close and I was so pleased not to go down 2-0. Coming out on top in my first clan war was one of the greatest confidence boosts that I've had while playing Starcraft. Big thanks to Asylumofsouls and FSBenAD along with all of the other members of both ToR and FS who played. Looking forward to the next!
This Friday I am going to be a part of ThePandarine BSO which I am really looking forward to. This is going to be my first tournament that im playing in so it'll be a little daunting but there not being any golds in it makes me feel a lot better. As long as I don't get knocked out in the first round I think ill be pretty happy with anywhere that I finish. I have to go into a net cafe that is down the road since I won't be at home, but I really don't mind.
My overall goal as to most people who play Starcraft is to improve to a really high level. Getting to Masters from Silver league is going to be a fair way away, but after recently being promoted I can see that it is quite achievable. More importantly are the goals for the next few weeks. I feel that I am starting to comfortably beat other Silver players and that Gold is closer then I thought. Sometime towards the start of the season I think I am going to get promoted again. I also plan on entering a BSG tournament after I get just a little more practice
Just thought that hit and more importantly defeated my first Platinum player on ladder. For most it isn't that big a deal but after being in Bronze league for the past year its very satisfying
Now to more or match-ups which is what I was looking forward to laughing at in the future. Starting off with vs Terran
TvT: My vs Terran at the moment has had a really positive buff with me learning how to do the Slayers Style opening. The build consists of an attack with 4 Reapers, 3 Helions and 1 Medivac that seems to work surprisingly well. On ladder I haven't lost a game using it, but then again I need to play more. I am happy with using this build on ladder, but when it comes to playing in BO3s I'm not quite sure. I feel like it is more of a trick, and that the only reason why I win is because they didn't see it coming. Im hoping to expand my openers so that I don't have the problem of using the same strategy all the time
TvP: Protoss has started to become increasingly more difficult as I start to play harder players. I have a timing attack with +1 attack, a large squad of Marines and Marauders and 2 Medivacs that comes at around 11:30 which used to outright kill my opponent most times, but its not working as much now. If the Protoss goes for fast High Templar with storm, then I'm pretty much dead. I can't deal with HT! I've been using Ghost a lot more but my control and the speed at which I play isn't strong/fast enough to work well. They have become this unit for me that is a sign of death and automatically cut my morale in half when I see one.
I have also been wanting to implement Ghosts into my play even if my opponent doesn't go for High Templar. Using EMP's seems to help deal with Zealots as they seen to shred Marines and Marauders if I don't studder-step.
TvZ: With the help of my friend Toastyzeus (and in every other match up), I have been learning how to play Mech. All my Zerg oppositions don't like the fact that I turtle of 3 bases and then A-move but if it works well why wouldn't I. Nothing much else to say apart from that if Zerg had a unit composition that was relatively hard for your opponent to hold against, would they stop doing it because a bunch of people raged at them? Didn't think so.
Well that's it for my first blog. I'll probably be posting ever once in a while unless something important happens in my SC2 life. Hope you enjoyed it -Patto
i started in silver as well and joined ToR when i was gold i think and if i can do it then you can for sure if you want any help with Terran stuff hit me up, also that medivac timing seems late my medivacs pop around 10 mins but idk your build i could be wrong (talking about TvP) i think the mill terrans are doing this 4 rax shit now so mby its that anyway gl!
started in bronze, join ToR when diamond.
Path from bronze to master: Slightly more than half a year.
LalAlAllalalalala.... .. . .. . . . . . . . ..
People are different this kind of comment can be very discouraging to people. Saying, "I wouldnt say that masters is too far away, anything is possible I got it after half a year" has less negative connotations behind it.

I can show you a few things ive picked up for the first two matchups...the last one..well...lets just say i shld hv a wprd with toasty
I need to practice my TvZ for tomorrow, but luckily there isn't too many of them hahaha. I'll have to give you a game soon to see if my TvT is as bad as I feel it is

You'll get there mate. You are a very passionate sort Sean and that means that there is no limit to what you can achieve, you are just setting out your journey man. Sure the road from to is a long one to undertake. But remember you aren't entirely taking it along, like the rest of us, we are all working towards individual and shared goals/visions. It's not a question of "But how can I achieve it?" but more along the lines "How long is it going to take me to achieve my goal?" and "What do I need to do to allow me to accomplish what I set out to achieve"
Good luck man ^^ don't ever forget you have your community behind you They will support you regardless buddy.
Hey, Patto. Best of luck with everything! Looking forward to reading that retrospective blog. =) I don't know about others, but I love reading about people's journeys and how they improved.
