After seeing Rize's reply about being beaten by Eddie in Eddie's post, I then posted tweet about the first time a GM destroyed me.

So here we go:

The first time a GM level player destroyed me in a game was x5_PiG on Whirlwind at the early stage of HotS, I think just after Beta. I was a lowly Bronze, beating Silvers (How far I've come now I'm Gold, losing to silvers!) and it was the first tournament I had signed up to after joining SC2. I didn't know too much about the ANZ Competitive scene at the time, and didn't really know who PiG was until after the match.

Anyway I don't remember too many details about the game. I of course played Protoss and was trying to tech up to my favorite unit, The Colossi. I didn't scout, something I still forget to do today haha. and I just sat back, building probes and pylons (as Day9 taught me), I had a buttload of Zealots. Some time between this and the game ending, PiG overwhelmed me with gigantic forces...of some description, probably A-moved, because Jergs....

Re-watching the replay, having not scouted and wondering how this scrub could have beaten me (I had Colossi after all) I noticed that PiG had gone 4 hatch before Pool, I think he had literally droned 3 bases even before the Pool...and that was the day I found out GMs are assholes (jks!).

That was the first time I have been annihilated by a God-tier player....since then I've lost countless games to countless people...but that Game always sticks in my head.

Do you guys remember the first time you were absolutely destroyed by a GM player? Would like to hear other peoples stories.

12 pooled to death,
Second time?
12 pooled (HELD IT!), followup 4 base roach (while I was still on 1 base)

My first memory of playing vs a [in a competitive setting] was in a qualifier (ESL or iesf or something cant remember) I qualified for from being the top 3 in the BSG qualifier (doubled up as BSG weekly back in the old days) and I met Mightykiwi on Ohana who then proceeded to 6 pool me. I almost held!! Not that bad from a but then again his zerglings proved too strong for me.

He doesnt remember it though and we didnt know each other back then

I was knocked down to the lower brackets where I met Fender who gave me a macro game at least even though I still lost

It was either Mafia or Jerry back on a shitty map like Xel'naga Caverns. Those were the days..

I think in your tweet I spoke about the time I played EvE.Signs at ACL Gold Coast and +2 blink stalker all inned him.. rekt him and went home, when I could have ended the game.. but let him rebuild while I did who knows what and he came back and won the game with Ultra's and queens. (I still had blink stalkers...) I was Gold...

But this was not true, I think my first real spanking was against the fabled JimDiddy. Also at a LAN, might have been the qualifier for ACL Gold Coast, in a PC cafe in Brisbane. It was a Swiss bracket and I hit JimDiddy in the first round (wtf seeding gosh)... I got rekt, he probably didn't even use hotkeys. I remember as he pushed his mass of zerg into my squishy tiny protoss army I tried to make a forcefield wall and it was so laggy at the PC cafe that about 5 forcefields came up at once and made a perfect wall.. He complimented me on that sick forcefield wall after the game how it all came up at once.. I admitted it was just due to the lag and no skill...

Damn it, now I write this I remember the time I entered an online tournament cast by KellyMilkies and some dude and vs'd RedArchon on stream and got rekt... I got all the tech on 1 base... it was bad.

I remember the first time I lost to KR GM was ChanKim in a ZvZ. I was gold. I put the loss down to the map favouring zerg.

I played Roach vs Roach vs Wally on King Sejong station. It was before I got a pc, and I believe I was only playing teams with Jamie on my mac at the time, and was around a high gold. It was a 11-12 minute game surprisingly, and has always stuck in my head as a game I remember :P

First GM I lost to was Crimson when I was gold league in some NZ tournament. Look how far we've come.

Edit: Based on the title I was half-expecting a "be gentle senpai" post. I'm slightly disappointed now.

First time I lost to a GM was when I was gold on sea and #deadladder so I got baneling busted by JaggerZerg several times in a row before deciding it's not worth queuing any more right now...

First GM I lost to was RivaL he 2 base muta'd me on shakuras and i was silver..the brutality...

First GM I ever lost to was my IRL buddy Mike aka Wehrmacht. I practiced with him all the time. He was pretty good at one point, even beating people like JazBas, but he refused to play tournaments and eventually moved to Toowoomba and disappeared for years.

The first time I was beaten by a GM level player was in my first or second game at Starcraft. By that time i only knew how to make two gates in my main and send my zealots all across the map till they reach my oponent's base.
I don't remember his name, I knew nothing about starcraft back then (WoL times ).
The guy was pretty nice though, he gave me some advices and showed me some websites where I could find guides to get started :P
