So lately I've been concentrating on a 3 Rax MM Stim Push build. I was doing well until these two... odd games came along.
First up is a game on Metalopolis, I went for my usual build, my opponent went for a 2 Rax expand. He beat me back, though I severely damaged his expo, and eventually crushed me with a larger bio ball. What could I have done to avoid this?
Second is a game on Scrap Station, my push got repelled and my opponent went for a Hellion Drop build... I think... but even when his Hellions were in my base and I decided to counter attack, I still got crushed. What the?
On a side note, how can I tune my build so I can expand during/directly after my push, without losing production on my buildings? Any general advice on what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated as well.
First game: You didnt severely damage his expo. You had 2x the minerals lost compared to him after the first engagement.
Tips from this game:
1. Dont use marauders in tvt unless your trying to kill tanks/thors with tier 1 units (barracks). Marines are actually the counter to marauders, believe it or not.
2. Dont attack into bunkers, seriously.. you waste like 500 minerals worth of units killing 1 bunker worth 100.
Game 2: You did the same build. With same useless marauders. You try 3raxing on one of the longest rush distance maps? Im pretty sure i can defend a 3rax with 2rax. Even 1rax + bunker. What happens if i have banshees and tanks while you just suicide your army into my bunker? You'll lose cause your behind in tech. The other guy outplayed you. 2Rax can defend a 3Rax on long maps like scrap station.
Tips for this game:
1. Learn different builds, the 1 1 1 build. Its so.. flexible. With the 1 1 1 build you can do a hellion drop, a tank viking push, a banshee play, marine hellion medivac, MANY OPTIONS LA. TvT is a more positional, tech game. Watch top tvt replays, no one ever does 3rax pushes at the start, they all tech. Well unless if its like a MarineKing game, he tries to win through mobility and micro, dont worry about that though.
