A few Australian players have encountered some serious issues with the most recent "SEA only" Masters Cup due to the fact it was being held on the NA server. The reason the tournament was initially moved to the NA server was because SEA became too laggy for the majority of SEA, however that issue was fixed long ago. Currently, the issue seems to be reversed, I can speak on behalf of the majority of SLCN saying that we all get at least 1 second delay to NA, rendering it unplayable in tournaments.

This can create several issues, such as when a SEA resident living in NA refuses to play on the SEA server (even though they have a better ping there than Australians) because they get a clear and distinct advantage if their opponent has 1sec+ delay, and then have none.

I propose we move SEA only tournaments back to SEA, I've created a poll on the issue to gauge what people think. Please however only vote on the poll if you are going to post a traceroute to the servers to show which server gives you better ping. The sc2 servers don't reply to pings, so the best measurement we can get is the ping to the previous server in the routing chain.

Yeah, it's pretty unfair. Today I lost a game vs Petraeus purely from delay, I was in a great position but couldn't micro at all... I ask to swap to SEA server (after he says its playable for him) and he says no. Well, I guess it's time to forfeit then...

I don't think SEA players who've moved to America should get an advantage on players who remain in Australia.

IMO for SEA tournies it should be SEA server unless both agree to playing on NA, If its open tournaments to americans as well though it should be on NA unless both agree

Clearly the solution is change every online tournament to a LAN so everyone plays in the same place with the same ISP getting the same ping.

I get around the same as Wally on SEA.
On NA I get around 170 ms then it suddenly spiked up to like 300 ms. Probably unstable, since it usually just hovers around 170-190 ms every other time I do a tracert.
On KR I hover between 170-190 ms as well, goes as low as 150 ms and highest is 200 ms.

Maybe this map by Ahli would give better ping results. Takes into account the built in delay of the game.
