So after watching a lot of ZvZ action after the spore crawler buff in WCS and Dreamhack, it really left me wondering where the meta was at.
Mass muta wars seems to have been thrown clean out the window and what's left, for me atleast, is a bit of a blur.
1-1 lings was certainly popular for a while, but from the games I watched it seems as though the meta is shifting back towards a relatively fast Roach opener into a Roach/Hydra/Infestor composition.
So I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts on the current ZvZ meta were, and what devious builds they're currently employing to crush their foes
What I am seeing is that people are mostly opening 1-1 roaches and grabbing a third then droning up when possible whilst still producing roaches incase of an attack. people then usually transition into hydras and either attack and take a 4th with this or tech into SH.
Some crazy games people go like mutas straight into sh with spines like PiG did at Dreamhack, not really sure what the best style is atm but SH are certainly the strongest units in zvz and I'd recommend sh > infestors
The spore buff makes mass muta ling less viable but wings style map control mutas into roaches is possible. Muta into sh also seems possible in some cases too ^^
Basically ZvZ has reverted back to wings where any number of early aggressive builds, mid game all ins and many different ways to play are possible.
I see that pros are going for either Swarmhost Hydra play or just regular Roach hydra play. Spores kill muta flocks so quickly nowadays, i find it ridiculous. :b

personally i like revisiting the ling/infestor into ridiculouslyfast3-5ultrapewpew since vipers help that composition so much. i've also done a 1-1 into lair into 3rd into hydra + 2-2 roach/hydra timing.
personally i believe swarm hosts are extremely weak right now if you scout often because 1. they cannot defend multiple fronts and your army is more mobile than his in the first place and 2. because if he is attacking you with hosts he's the one that's scared of losing his entire army
