This thread is an introduction to League of Legends a 5v5 MOBA game, for newbies !
The goal for League of Legends, simply put is: Kill the enemy Nexus. The map is set out to be just like a DoTA map with a feature to replace return scrolls called "recall" an ability every champion has which lets you recall to base and buy items. League of Legends also doesn't have secret shops and runes, instead of secret shops there are neutral buffs that most people call blue buff : gives mana regeneration and cooldown reduction and red buff : gives a "unique" on hit effect to auto attacks that slows enemies and gives a small damage over time debuff onto the enemy.
Getting to the nexus hard though, expect a game to go for 15 - 60. Going more in depth into the game, to kill the nexus you need a few things, tower kills, money, items and champion kills. Unlike DoTA/DoTA 2 towers hit alot harder in League of Legends early game so diving under towers isn't as viable so early. You gain money from killing towers, killing champions, killing neutral minions, lane minions and inhibitors. You also get items from money , and you kill champions with items!
Sounds easy right? Not in the slightest for a nooby All these points can be learnt very early if you look at proper guides and are willing to learn. Like any game; practice makes perfect.
here are some links to help you.
Things you'll need to know in priority:
1.Laning Phase This guide will teach you roles of laning and a few other tips in lane, the following guides will explain more in depth lane mechanics.
2. Last Hitting If you're not support, then last hitting is where you hit minions just as they die, so that you get the final blow and gain money from the minions. All minions give money which killed by a real player, only to that player.
3. Zoning Is where you know your positioning and your range and are able to get auto attacks onto the enemy champion, effectively "zoning" them and giving you more lane control.
That's the gist of it, the important bits of the game is all there. Things like what champions have what abilities, what champion beats what champion, items, etc you will gain from experience.
Some amazing sites to help you are
Mobafire A noob friendly website for guides on champions and other things
Solomid.net Also another noob friendly site for guides on champions and other things. It's run by possibly the best League of Legends team in North America and has plenty of guides from pros.
Champion counters A simple site where you just click on the "champions" tab and a list of all the champions come up and you click on them to find the best counters.
Guide site another site with guides, and updates to the game. All these guide sites are amazing but i would recommend Solomid.net the most to starters.
lolpro.com owned by curse, another very well known team in North America, easily top 5 is another site with guides and updates for their team with alot of guides by pros.
Tournaments you can join are Go4LoL and CityHunter tournaments, they are the most accessible maybe not Go4LoL because the games start at 5am on Monday, but if you're dedicated you might make it
