Hayder 'Haypro' Hussein Retires

Team Liquid have today announced the retirement of Hayder Haypro Hussein. While Haypro never saw the Starcraft 2 success of some of his team mates, he had developed a cult following amongst the Starcraft community which gave him the nickname "The Banjo" (a play on the word Bonjwa). He is largely known for his deadpan delivery and underdog status which culminated in an unexpected run through MLG Providence.

Why am I retiring? My motivation for the game has been declining. I don't have the same drive anymore and since I'm part of the older generation of gamers, I couldn't give sc2 another chance even if I wanted. I've decided to finish school and start the next chapter of my life. I have no idea what that will be, but I have my dreams and I hope to make them come true. Though I won't be playing professionally, I will still be watching SC2 tournaments and staying close with Team Liquid. Liquid isn't just a great professional team for us, it's also a second family for all the players.

Hapyro joins former team mate Jonathan Jinro Walsh as the second Team Liquid player to retire from the game in a short few months.

Aw, that's a shame. Really enjoyed the personality he displayed in Liquid Rising, and I was hoping to see him as one of the leading innovators in Heart of the Swarm.

Can't say it was unexpected. His lack of results in just about anything other than MLG Providence would probably have led to this even if he still had the drive to succeed.

Hope he still sticks around as part of the team though.

After he didn't try to qualify for Code A a couple of seasons ago and had apparently left Korea without anyone knowing about it and then didn't play for TL in any event for months, can't say I didn't see this coming.

I still remember watching a 30minute interview with him and hotbid, and at the end he thanks his sponsers in a most unique way while TLO is LITERALLY rolling on the ground laughing in public.

He was a unique part of the SC2 community.

As they showed in Liquid Rising though, he won a lot of matches against big opponents, but just didn't go all the way. Unfortunately people only pay attention to the people on the podium.

I think I have watched his interviews with Hotbid more than any other video on youtube! T____T

He's not dead guys, just begining a new carreer. Ultimatelly most of pro players will and that's safer than going all the way to retirement as pro-player.
