On the 31st of August 2012, ThePandarine Bronze Silver Open was held. It was an event that would run exclusively for the and of the SEA/Oceania Starcraft II Community. A simple idea of a fellow BSG player turned into an event which many people enjoyed.
Sixty four players would play each other for pride, honour and glory as well as an hour of coaching from Team ToR and an hour of coaching from Carnage e-Sports. Both sponsors were very gracious enough to offer when the event was in its infancy. A big heartfelt thanks goes out to them. Words cannot describe how much their offer had meant to the organisers.
The response when the event was launched on the 19th of August was slow at the beginning but picked up as the day of the tournament approached. A flood of volunteers for administrative work as well as a handful of streamers were received in the early days while exposure of the event during the wT Weekly, BSG Open #62 and BSG Cup #7 brought in the influx of players.
Many thanks to the organisers and casters of the aforementioned events for promoting or allowing the promotion of the tournament on their events or streams. Big shout out to AsylumofSouls @ Suipr, ToRVenom and ToRBaldie!
A large amount of appreciation goes out to FSBattleToaster and KFCTrinion. Both came forward and volunteered, amongst others as well, as Administrators for the tournament. Both fulfilled their duties to the best and ensured the tournament proceeded smoothly.
Word cannot describe how much the organisers are appreciative of Mattyb21, Justice, Mirth and Gruju for streaming and casting the games. The streams and casts were both smooth and professional. The organisers recommend them for any future events.
Out of the set 64 places for the tournament, only 43 spots were filled. A good turnout for a only tournament. On tournament day, 29 of the registered players turned out. Again, an excellent turn out for an event planned out weeks in advance.
ThePandarine Bronze Silver Open began at 8:00PM AEST. Players played their matches with great earnest and hunger. Out of the 29, four players fought their way into the semi-finals. metaStatic , warmachine , mGGsneak and TAHWAKEYE have every reason to be proud to have reach this stage. However, there could only be one victor.
After a close series where both semi-finals went 2-1, two players faced off. Both hailing from the same clan and playing the same race , metaStatic and mGGsneak were to wage war in a Best of Five series.
mGGsneak asserted his dominance with some great Siege Tank and Bio play. metaStatic however, refused to take the beating quietly and bloodied mGGsneak’s nose with some very convincing Banshee and Marine Tank play.
The score was 2-1 in favour of mGGsneak. The fourth game started with metaStatic opening with a Hellion-Marine Drop which did damage. However, mGGsneak retaliated with a Marine Tank force and contained his fellow . A slug match ensued with mGGsneak coming out on the better end before metaStatic threw in the towel.
Four hours and twenty three minutes after the start of the tournament, mGGsneak was declared the overall victor of ThePandarine Bronze Silver Open at 12:23AM AEST. The organisers would like to extend a hand and congratulate him on winning as well as providing some entertaining games. To him, we wish him the best of luck with his Starcraft II career.
This is not to put down any of the other participants of the tournament. Without you, the tournament would mean nothing. A large number of viewers complemented the participants for being entertaining despite their league standing. Give yourself a pat on the back. The organisers also view you as winners for participating and giving your best.
The organisers would finally like to extend much gratitude to the sc2sea community for supporting the event as well as giving their input on what could improve the event. This event, let alone the idea of it, would never be possible let alone come to fruition without you. Thank you.
TL;DR: ThePandarine Bronze Silver Open was held. mGGsneak is winner. Many thanks, lots of appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors, Team ToR and Carnage e-Sports, the volunteer admins, streamers and casters, the participants and sc2sea community.
