i use a hp pavillion laptop and all i have is a $15 cooling pad like this one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/USB-3-Fans-LE...item5d2cdc5e86 havnt had too many problems with overheating since then (it still runs hot but not enough to damage it i hope :P) but i think laptops are destined to a bitch with overheating and theres not too much you can do about it

Chuck the graphics on low till u get it, you can try limiting the menu frame rate, apparently it caused overheating for some people.

go to

My Documents\Starcraft II\Accounts\longassnumber\Variables.txt

add these

frameratecap=60
frameratecapGlue=30

Apparently SC2 would not limit framerate so it would overwork graphics cards, not sure if it's still the case but can't hurt to add these lines.

I've heard a lot of talk about how putting i7's into laptops results in overheating issues. The IT guy at my work has one and his machine crashes a couple of times a day - and he's not even doing anything super intensive like gaming. A cooling pad will probably help, but it could be that there isn't much you can do about it. Might pay to search around because you probably aren't the only one experiencing this.

wrap it in glad wrap & drop it in the toilet. flush a few times to get the ions moving & that will speed up the cooling process.
either that or wrap it in aluminium foil & stick it in the microwave.. dont worry if you see sparks, thats normal, its like little blasts of energy giving your laptop internals & external a good cut & polish. it will come out like brand new. sometimes all the gunk built up over the years can cause it to overheat & so it needs to be reversed

Kind of what DRFT said I agree with "over the years there will be stuff built up inside it". Pull it apart (you can find deconstruction manuals all over the internet), and completely clean it. I work as a pc tech, and sometimes that's all that's wrong. There's a mustache of dust blocking airflow from the fan causing the notebook to overheat. Either that, or it's time to upgrade from your Windows 3.1

epic fail ZanooKu. i was expecting some support wen i saw your name pop up

anyway dont listen to him... just microwave it & it will be fine

or i just remembered u can also just put ice on the keyboard & any little openings u can find just squeeze some ice in there. takes a little longer than microwaving & its only a quick fix, u will need to repeat every hour. or u can give your laptop some ice water, connect the straw to your usb input.. serve with a slice of lemon.
