I'm thinking of running a fun D3 competition this week as our "Community Open". It will be called "D3 CO #1", will be sponsored by SC2SEA donations and everyone part of our community is welcome to join in. Its going to be a hardcore competition obviously, and the aim of it would be to promote some healthy competition and to get people playing out of their comfort zone and playing hardcore.

It could be something like first person to kill skeleton king or first person to earn XXX gold in 4 hours. I really have no idea, some suggestions would be great. The only problem I can see so far is verifying the claims. That might be tricky or require everyone to stream lol.

Thoughts / comments?

Let us know and we will try to work out a format everyone can play in for funsies.

Verifying claims could be done with screen shots, each char shows you the time they have been playing for don't they?

How about, quickest person to lvl 15 or lvl 20 or something?

It can be run over the course of a weekend, so that different timezones can compete, and you can verify the claim with a simple ss with you moused over your character (shows time played)

Here's how to make it competitive!

1. Get 4 people in a group, hardcore characters
2. run together see how far they get (they have to be together otherwise difficulty of 4 player mobs will kill)
3. Watch as the 4 people try to get each other killed
4. Last one standing wins, moves onto next round (start at highest progressed to eliminate people just staying back and not doing anything)
5. Rinse and repeat until 1 HC left

Furthest trek on hardest difficulty HC, make it run for however long (4 hours? idk)
And whichever team/player gets the furthest in the game wins.?
Teams of 4, and its essentially a race, but on ridiculous difficulty hardcore, so if people try to rush too much they'll die, but if theyre too careful they'll lose ^_^

I'm sure with teams of 4 one from each team could stream.

Or as system said, wait until PvP

Another i thought of, quickest too kill Diablo normal mode?

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with System here. Hide and seeks and other stationary goals in D3 are fine in some competitions but not very engaging (not to mention, they cannot be cast). I suggest we wait until arena.

Maybe just a casual sorta competition, something like ''The Massive Blow Challenge''.
People will post screenys of there massive blows and we'll try to top each other until the end of the night or week. I don't know it's hard to make Diablo 3 a competitive game.

Could do a speed-run side by side stream like the Retro Rumble TA boys did. Hopefully alcohol too.

We could have the d3 competition use Guild Wars 2 pvp cause that game is going to be out well before blizzard finish pvp for D3 :P

Hmm... how to mix Alcohol and Diablo...

The side-by-side with a speedrun competition and some drinking rules (everytime you use a health pot, clear a zone or something) with viewer rules too.

Can therefore also be casted im sure!
