After I watched back BlizzCon HotS Campaign Lore & Panel, I was thinking about this question and the developer didnt quite answer clearly. They did say it will affect the story some part, but I was wondering if it will affect the gameplay after all the decision made during WoL campaign?
Anyone have any info/strong answer regarding about this?
I think I remember them saying something like " we would like to do something with that, like reading the save games, the technology is be worked on, it's on the list of things we'd like to do".
Now i wonder how they read that as I suppose everyone has been replaying all the missions from casual to Brutal difficulty. Well, I do as people out there, hope the decision we made in WoL, affect HotS. Thinking about that, It also encourage new player to buy and finish WoL first xD
T_T I like that tosh is dead cos nova was boss, but the fact the official story is you didnt side with the protoss makes me a little pissed, that doctor was a slurry and i enjoyed when raynor wasted her in the armory.
Nevertheless, everyone of us is looking forward to HotS But i was thinking if the ladder will be seperated, It's a best bet that LotV expansion will be out 2-3 years later @_@
people actually gave any tiny bit of a F*** about any of the characters?
Honestly the single player campaign in WoL was so poorly written (missions were cool though) that I'd honestly prefer if they sacked the writer, got a real one and he said oh everything from WoL was just a dream. Yes that is how bad the story was
you are seriously going to defend what is unanimously agreed to be the biggest disappointing aspect of sc2? If you can show me a single reputable game critic that didn't call the game out for its bad story and characters i'd be amazed.
Why shouldn't I expect AAA writing given how much time and money they put into the game especially all the promises they made. Its not that my expectations are "too high" (I don't think that is an excuse at all either. oh its a game you can't expect it to be well made) its that it was sooooooo badly done in every aspect. Characters are generic and stereotypical to the point of stupidity, no character development, story is disjointed, acting is terrible (though in games it usually is) and ultimately none of the characters were likable or interesting.
Look at what Mass Effect did with a fairly generic B movie story line with good characters
The reason I'm so vocal however is not that its so bad. its that it could have been great but the poor writing pulled the game down as a whole along with the poor interface. Imagine if the story was well done and blizzard eventually got around to fixing the interface.
My understanding from the answers they gave at blizzcon was that if they can find a way to work the difference choices into HotS campaign they will but otherwise they'll go with canon, but it didn't sound like the choices would have much impact on the story even if they are worked in.
The choices seemed pretty irrelevant to me anyway, for instance the doctor one. If you side with her she's not infected, if you don't side with her she was infected all along. Seems kind of stupid.

Not entirely sure if I'm correct here, but just what I remember:
If you don't side with her, she at some point said that she was making a cure for the infection. So, something went wrong there it seems.

I hate it when low level Protoss campaign players talk about the Terran campaign .
BTW WoL was disgusting and retconned so much stuff from SC1/BW, I have zero hope for the story getting good, but I'll still play it through before I touch the multiplayer.

The way i understood it is, when you sided against her, she kinda flipped her shit like a girl you just broke up with and infected herself like a crazy ho to get back at you/prove her cure worked or something retardo like that.

Why do you think the story is the most disappointing part of the game for most people? Out of the hundreds (honestly, probably thousands lol) of complaints about SCII that I've read, I don't think I've seen a single one that lists the story over no LAN/clan support, Bnet 0.2 in general, doesn't feel like BW, gameplay design (1a/deathball syndrome).
I thought the story was pretty good as far as RTS games go
I did like the cinematics. Especially the first news broadcast on the zerg.. So sick. But yeah Raynor gets a little Walker Texas Ranger for my liking. As far as story goes it's the standard sci-fi prophecy bs. Can't help but eat it all up though

Blizz cinematics are always amazing, just a shame I saw most of them before the game came out
