Many would not believe it but we actually had a v grand final last night.
You all know what that means... A Terran winner!
The first semi final saw a lead-in v with deadpixel facing off against ToRBloodmyst and deadpixel displaying excellent drop harass and strong, practiced opening builds took down Bloodmyst becoming the first through to the grand final.
On the other side of the brackets, we saw one of the BSG admins, yours truly Suipr facing off against the "" player RVxAnni.
RVxAnni showed some creative blocking of Suipr's natural expansion but his marine tank push on Tal'Darim for game one just wasn't enough, Suipr rolling over the terran army with upgraded lings and banelings taking the early lead 1 - 0.
RvxAnni came back in the second game taking a close one on Korhal Compound then pushed in game 3 catching Suipr just before his infestors hatched and with Suipr's base completely undefended, RVxAnni took the matchup down and deservedly advanced to the BSG's first TvT final.
The grand final looked like it was going to be continuing the 3 - 0 sweeps of the past few weeks with the first two games going into macro mode and deadpixel taking both of them after much back and forth and two very close, hard fought games.
deadpixel switched it up for the third game taking a chance on a 3rax all in but RVxAnni scouted one of the hidden barracks and despite his defense only being in reaction to a suspected 2 rax, it was adequate to hold the extra marines, RVxAnni taking his first win in the series.
Game 4 was a surprise for the casters, RVxAnni deciding to respond to cheese with some cheese of his own dropping a proxy rax in deadpixel's expansion and pushing all-in taking deadpixel by surprise and the 4th game evening the series 2 - 2.
In game 5 we saw RVxAnni throw out a different build teching to fast cloaked banshees and wreaking havoc in deadpixel's base. deadpixel held it off but the pressure was enough to give RVxAnni a tech lead and when he caught deadpixel's 3rd undefended, the game swung heavily into RVxAnni's favour. He continued the pressure and forced his way into the main of deadpixel taking out a very exciting grand final 3 games to 2.
Thank you to all players for this week and congratulations to the finalists. I hope to see you all again next week for another fun time and remember to spread the word on ladder
A reminder that next week's BSG Open will be the last chance to qualify for next Sunday's BSG Cup sponsored by Divine Generation Gaming.
You can watch the live stream in it's entirety from last night here and be sure to watch the forums for the BSG Cup post and next week's Open, to be posted soon.
gl hf everyone.
It's always a pleasure to bring this tournament to you all.
If I don't see you on ladder, catch you next week
