Hello, I've encountering some big problem in my play. Money stack up alot if I'm under preasure, scouting, teching and expanding (after my 3rd).
1. The scouting. I set up 1 overlord a little bit outside my enemy's base. But I never think about it so I forget to send it in. My second go to natrual expo and my 3rd goes to his 3rd. I can't count how many times I lost a game because something secret happend and I didn't know it. Such as double stargate, 7-gate push, 2-base colossal, mech or bio. I also forget to retake the xel'naga towers alot and scout his army compo.
Do you have any advice? T_T
2. Teching. My broodlords are always after 25min+ I'm so afraid of him coming and attacking me, so I just mass ling, roach, corruptor(infestors/bling/hydra). How can I make faster brood lords and when do I make them? T_T
3. Expanding. I'm so bad at taking more then 3 expo's. My 4th is always SUPER LATE because I can't break out the fear shell of expanding same can be with the 3rd. How do I know it is a good time to take a 4th?
4.Stacking money when I'm not 200/200. That's really often. Some games I never get supplyblocked. Under 300 minerals untill 200. But about 70-80% of the games I look at replay and say, hm I could've spend those and have even more. It is mostly supplyblock or I'm doing something else, like micro units, creep spread and inject. I try to make spines/spores and addiontal queen sometimes. But I keep getting crushed because he got bigger army/better counter to mine. How do I improve that?
God bless the one who can take time to answer these questions.
1. if you opponent is on 1 base with 2 gas and doesnt expand around 5:30 then there is a good chance they are teching so send in an overlord. if the protoss does forge FE send overlord in to scout around 7:00 - 7:30. apart from that i always find myself wondering what tech he is doing throughout the game so i send an overlord in (make sure to get overlord speed).
2. not really sure how to answer that, i guess you just have to squeeze it in there knowing that once you have broodlords out your army will be a lot scarier also you sort of need 4 base for them so this may be linked to your not wanting to take a 4th problem.
3. verses a forge FE you want to take your third around 4:30 - 5:00 or 5:30 at the very latest. you really just want to expand whenever you get the chance to so if you know you are safe and can afford to spend some larva on drones then expand (try not to go past 80 drones).
4. try to always make units after you inject but apart from that its just something that you will get better at overtime.
some of this stuff (like the expanding) will probably take some trial and error but i hope it helps =).
4. hum, maybe aditional expansions + drones to get more income and aford more units in less time.
3. Usually against Terran i take the third and forth at min 11-12, right when they stopped pushing with marine tanks. If i see he is going mech i can get a third at min 7 and defend it properly with crawlers + roach , I play a roach based opening so early helion plays arent a big deal.
Toss usually opens FFE , if he does i go for 2 base roach pressure or i get a third really quick. If you have problems geting a fourth i suggest you to take the risk and double expand or expand as soon as you have your third saturated , defended and working!
ZvZ i dont really have that much experience, i usually go for 14/14 opening expanding at 25 and protecting my self against banelings.
2. I usually throw down a spire about min 13 against toss, they will most likely have 2-3 colossi and corrputors will help at the engage. As soon as you really want to tech to BL, i think you need 3 bases working with the gases + a extra base with gases. I will most likely rush update to hive at min 16 if i think its worth it/ slipped macroing and have a LOT of extra minerals/gas.
1. Try to keep lings at xel naga and the first overlord next to his base on a hotkey, you will see it on your hotkey and you will remember. Or you can force youself to remember. Scouting is really important to stop those pushes.
I´m not a pro or anything but you can just take it as an advice. This is all i learnt from 2 months watching pro zerg streams. Zerg is a mechanical & reactive race, which it means you have to know the mechanics, do them properly and scout + react.
2. Easily solved - have a mind set of WHEN you want to start it - pretend it's just like a Lair you start at 7:30 - I start my Hive at around 18 minutes regardless of match up unless I am super behind then GG for me.
3. Against any fast expand - you expand every 5-8 minutes. Against a normal 1 base -> 2 base expand every 10 minutes.
So it should go
1 base 0:00
2 base 3:00
3 base 10:00
4 base 15:00-18:00
4. Want to trade armies as Zerg - Zerg has weakest army and it's better if you Nydus all around and just harass until you are back to 100 so you can remax again and widdle down his army.
my general timer i set myself is when my +2 attack on my mutas finish, and generally when i take my 4th/5th base, because you'll be able to have the gas to make mutas/upgrades/infestation pit/hive/whatever else, at this stage also be careful about how many MINERALS you are spending since ur drone count shouldnt really be going up, so u ratio wise you will have more gas, so spend it into gas heavy units/upgrades rather than still churning out lings and blings etc.
Also, if youve just killed his army its generally a good time to tech since hes going to have to rebuild it, and/or you see him expand really early or go for 3 bases early.
As for when to take a fourth I wwould just do it. Make some random time say 13:00 mins and say I WILL EXPAND NO MATTER WHAT at this time, ull be surprised how often ull get away with it.
