From bronze to GM in less than a year.

Hi guys, first of all , my nick is Delac/Easy , i play in the european server ( trying to get cash for a KR/TW too). I´m a zerg silver player and this is a small "sketch" of my project.
I have what you guys call ladder anxiety, which it makes me really nervous when i play ladder or after a few matches (3-5) I cant play anymore. But I want to beat this and be a GM. I told my friends that i would start this project and they told me it would be awsome if I made Vlogs about my laddering day every single day or streaming it so players with the same problem as me , or even newbies that would like to get to Grandmasters will get motivated to keep on playing and trying hard.

Tryed to start this project around 15 days ago, on a local forum but it didnt work as i expected, people started saying it was imposible, that i was a noob and that i will never make it. I found this forum where everyone seems to be really nice and I think its a big family so hopefully i wont get trolled.

If you guys dont mind, I would love if you could answer the poll im going to post. Also any idea you guys have that can hook me up will be great. I really need people´s support to beat this.

Thanks for reading, yours Delac/Easy.

Bronze to GM is definitely possible, there are a couple of top GM's in this community who started out at bronze themselves. Gl with your quest.

You're a noob, you'll never make it.

...

Kidding. Seriously anything is possible if you're prepared to work on it. Personally I don't think many people would religiously follow as much of it has been done before, and most people fail / give up leaving any followers hanging. What I would suggest though is this. Get sc2gears, a program that saves and organises replays for you. After each milestone write down in your personal log what you want to say, what you think is what got you to the next league etc etc. if you do end up getting to GM you have a record of every game you played along the way, then you also could make a video perhaps showing the different stages of play, thought process etc.

Would be a pretty cool end result, but like I said its not something that id personally always follow

Making vlogs and stuff will take up time you could be training if you want to progress that fast. Depending on how much time you have to put into the game already, this may be a big issue with progressing in higher leagues.

I disagree - having to explain yourself is a good way to solidify ideas and remember things. Teaching is a fantastic way to learn.

If he includes some replays, things he's learned etc in his vlogs, I think it'll help a lot.

yeah I wouldnt say daily vlogs are necessary, but every week or 2 wouldn't hurt. Also like the idea of saving some games from each league as you improve then at the end, regardless of reaching GM or not you can show how much you've improved. Wish I had an idea like that when I started playing 1v1 to save some of those early replays and watch my improvement.

Beaware not every one can reach grandmaster. It will be difficult, but good luck to you, and work hard for it

Whoa, 6 replys in 15 mins, well i know getting to GMs league is hard but if i play enough and learn enough I know i can become one. I think that the hardest goal is to actually play ladder without feeling really nervous and having weird panic attacks (Yeah, im really stupid). Im really competitive, infact i´ve been in tournaments of different games, but somehow ladder makes me panic badly. Thanks for cheering me, i will hopefully achieve and i will be able to show the progress. I will save EVERY replay and making a small replay pack with the "Best" ones of each league so you guys can see the progress.
Thanks Yours, Easy/Delac

Vlogs would be better, but I also think that u should stream it.. whether u get a ton of viewers or not - it will be beneficial for u... and if people want to tune in to help u out - or just chill out there - i dont see any downside to streaming it all if you're willing to!

try to think of laddering as practice and when you loose games there is a good chance you learnt something so its ok to loose and soon enough you will start to win a lot more and get promoted also if people watch your stream they might be able to give you some tips.

good luck

Being part of a sc2 community is a good step in the gm direction participate in the local comps, be manner and constructive and you'll be surprised at how many people will want to help out! streaming +1 even if you dont get any viewers to begin with. The grandmaster manual might be beneficial too

Not stupid, I get ladder anxiety too, especially after I lose. I jsut have to make myself not care at all if I lose... focus on something entirely different, ie the aim of this game is to not get supply blocked. I also find I win more often like this, lol.

Anyway, glhf

it also takes the monotony out of endless hours of training, and lets you look back on your progress.

Whilst I can't commit to following your progress religiously I think it'd be a great way to look back over your progress and identify perhaps, the most successful learning methods and approach for yourself.

It's surely possible if you work hard and stay motivated, 'ladder anxiety' is sometimes an issue early on, work on keeping that bonus pool at 0, watch every loss and in the words of the wise man SQLTt.inFeZa

to be clear, i'm talking about all the extra production and editing and rendering and uploading and stuff that goes on with trying to produce a vlog as opposed to just analysing and watching some replays. It's not just 'lololol I spend 20 minutes a day on this vlog'... it would more likely take you something closer to 2 hours a day if yo u wanted to produce 20 minutes of content. So it's a highly time-inefficient way to improve.

If you are limited on how much time you can play per day, it will hold you back more than help you to actually publish content too regularly.

buy TGM and complete everything in that. Its helped me very much already and ive only been doing their methods for two weeks. the spreadsheets etc mean that i get excited when i lose now (which is so weird) because i know that every lose i am going to find something that fixes my game a little more. and i can see these changes in the very next game i play.

i think day9 stated something like, to get to gm from bronze u need to be playing 8 hours a day for a year. im not sure how correct that estimation is but you need to make sure u can sustain a healthy lifestyle and commit to playing a video game for this amount of time.

i wish you all the best and hope you can achieve this goal though, id love to get to GM too!
