I had a great time today and I hope many people felt the same way! Race wars was extremely fun, probably the most fun event I've hosted so far and well worthy of being the main event of sc2sea.com's 1 year anniversary celebration! Anyway here are the full results, with the scores being super close between the top 3 teams, and an unlikely hero. Replays/VODs will be coming shortly. Thank you to all the players and casters who made this happen.
Winning Team:
David Kim Please Save us! aka Protoss!
Recap:
Heroes of the day
First of all thanks to all the casters Jester, Meatex, System and Benji/Zepph as well as the players who did a fabulous job casting with them, showing a really nice high level analysis where we got a rare glimpse into the minds of some of the best players on the server- Light, PiG, GLaDe, Tgun
mOOnGLaDe Zerg Hero:: The Zerg Captain did fantastic in his games (4-1) scoring an all-kill and leading his team. As well as keeping his cool and remaining super diplomatic during the casting which got quite tense at times due to ahem issues I'd rather not point out. xGkingMafiA also put up a strong showing (4-0) all-killing the Protoss team.
soulmanfOu Protoss Hero: Strong performance from the Korean Hero (4-1) who stayed all the way and took down team random 4-0. He also won ESL against inFiTargA 3-2 just minutes before his first game.
TARoss Terran Hero: Stellar performances by the player from Sydney who went 4-1 and took down arguably the two best players in SEA at the moment, mOOnGLaDe and FXOTgun
MVP of the entire competition.
inF: inFi clan leader, undisputed Hong Kong #1 and TGM coach, Roz (4-0) came in today with a good reputation already but no one would expect the insane PvT master class he was about to put on. Taking out arguably the best Terrans on SEA at - iaguz, Rossi and RedArchon he was the clutch player when all seemed lost. 1-3 down, he did not falter and did the reverse all-kill and it is thanks to him that Protoss have won the first ever Race War championship!
Boo Boos of the day:
The e-Drama after the Terran vs Zerg games. Its just a fun event, didn't see the need for those harsh words and well a new rivalry born out of a friendly game is just silly. Not mentioning any names but those who were there know what I was talking about!
Complaining/whining Disliked how some spent their time complaining when they could have sped things up instead by helping facilitate the event. Simple stuff like saying "im still not getting invited to the game. do something etc" when you could have messaged the host yourself or took initiatives like messaging the other captain to speed things up etc! A little help goes a long way and I look forward to see some of you helping out more next time too, would really appreciate it! e.g Light does a great job with hosting games and getting stuff started when Admins have their hands tied.
The few players who did not show up without saying a word. Appreciate those who told us in advance, Filthy, Jabito, deth etc and thanks to the last minute subs who stepped it but was pretty disappointed by certain players who did not show up without saying a word!
The Random Team Sadly original Captain Filthy could not make it till the last round. The random team put on a decent performance not representative of the final results but with Filthy and abit more luck they would have fared soo much better. It didn't help that the random team ended up playing mirror matches in more than half their games vs the more experienced players of the race. 3 TvTs vs RedArchon, 3 ZvZs vs Glade, etc! Better luck next time!
Pokerface did had some great decision making by opting for a base trade vs Soulman but one crucial mistake of hesitating to not focus on the very last pylon and he would have had the game won! See APM can be so important sometimes!
A pretty crazy game where nirvAnA fended off an early double spine crawler rush and bane busting to take a huge advantage but his mass droning and silly aggression got him in trouble. At one point he had 35 drones to glade's 16 but nirvAnAs refusal to not make roaches or banes in his transition to fast mutas cost him and his team the game.
xGkingLight: It is unfortunate to say that in recent times, Protoss have not been doing so well overall on the SEA server. However, starting onwards from this Race War, with ours cries of help finally heard by David Kim, I firmly believe we will win this Race War convincingly, there shall be a reckoning!
My confidence in our victory lies in our very solid lineup of star players from all over SEA. I have no doubt that we will see many innovative plays/builds stemming from these creative warriors of Aiur. With myself, Azz, and Soulman leading the charge, we march to victory!
sc2sea.com: Which team are you most afraid of and why!
xGkingLight: All three opposing lineups are quite intimidating as they feature some very well-known and solid players. However, we have no fear, as our duty is unyieding to purge the Zerg and have our Terran slaves bow to Protoss masters. Glory is Eternal!
The following players shall all receive the Race War #1 Champion achievement badge soon, with the final 8 players decided by who was there supporting, everyone who played as well as Protoss Captain Light's personal choice.
Thanks to you Nirvana and to all the players that has given us with such a great show !
Congrats to the and especially to the Hero Roz who impressed me so much and made iaguz eat his banter !

xGkingiaguz: Kinda most afraid of the Zerg team. The random lineup looks fairly meagre except for filthy who I reckon we can handle. SEA has no good protoss so they're walkovers except for light (not sure if soulman is playing, if he is make that two good p's). But the Zerg can field a lineup of like glade, tgun, mafia and edge and holy shit that's ******* overpowered
iaguz, you betrayed the s by an infamous defeat. You must now perform the ultimate sacrifice, which is shave your beard and eat it.

Going to preface this with a warning that what I say below is not intended to be negative at all, but I feel it needs to be said.
When I am mid-cast, it is very difficult to have to chase up a bunch of players and team leaders about the next map and player choice as it creates really awkward periods of silence in the cast, which loses viewers. On top of this, taking 10 minutes between games to sort out the players and maps is also bad, and turned 15 maps into a 5 hour cast (Which is significantly high considering 80% of the games ended on 1/2 base). I had a lower than average viewer number last night, and whilst there were some other big events on, part of it was (in my opinion) due to the downtime between games.
The event really needed a few tourney admins to keep stuff rolling (like the guys that run the CO/GPD etc), there was just no organization, noone knew who should have been creating the maps and as a caster, it just felt really awkward between games.
Just want to clarify again that I don't think negatively towards the event, and I don't want to start a flamewar or anything, but I feel that i need to voice my opinion from my point of view.
Yea I kinda left the Admining up to the individual captains, instead of having dedicated admins there just to baby sit the teams between games. Turned out the captains were too busy with casting/playing and I believe they always discus who plays next only after they lost instead of while the game is still on going hence the downtime. Always happens in our GSTL Format games. Lets talk more about this on skype Benji!
Glad i didn't have to play and show my currently lackluster skill, but sad i could not help Zerg get the win . Grats to protoss! Thanks for the event nirvAnA! Thanks to me for the apparent idea? :P
