Here's the deal:

The last time I've played SC2 is Sept 28, 2010. My work has placed me in the country of Turkmenistan; a country with a low quality of internet. It has been 302 days since my last game, which i won i think. I ended up in Platinum Leauge.

Fast forward to today. I will be headed to Thailand and one of the top things on my to-do list will be to get in a days worth of SC.

Any tips for a North American player on the Asia server?

Honestly, the only advice I can give you is to have fun and make the most of it! I can imagine how hard it would have been, spending >300 days away from SCII.

It shouldn't be much different from playing on the NA server, but there would be some new tactics you are unaware of since you have been away for so long.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

I have some idea of the changes to SCII since I left. I still follow my favorite casters: Husky and Saharadrac. The articles on this site have been helpful too.

It's going to be a fun day. I'll post my SC info,if I can, if anyone wants a game

If your playing on SEA, come by the channel 1v1. Lots of silver-diamond level players hang on there, and I've learnt alot by hanging around it.

I probably will check out the 1v1 channel. I also like jumping into things unprepared too. Thinking about joining the Community Open tournament. To my understanding, it happens weekly and anyone can join?

Sounds like a good way to join the community again.

Yep, there's a few tournaments that happen weekly; just keep your eyes on the "Upcoming Events" tile & signing up is practically a 2-click process!

There's also SC2SEA's TGM guide which is pretty damn awesome; it's practically text/replay based coaching - definitely worth it's bang for buck!

would be good to get used to the styles on our server.

I'm not sure what people do in Platinum anymore, but back then they were just standard games.

SEA and NA are pretty similar in styles so there isnt much unexpected to watch for.
