Hey, i've figured out how to make "force field destroying terrain" (Using dummy units that have the "massive" trait). I would just like to take a poll from this community about if this terrain feature is viable in maps,
Now, while I do play Zerg. I dont really have a problem with force field. I dont mind that it can split up my army or protect the protoss from me, but I know some people do. If this type of terrain was to be added into maps, I would suggest making it around the center of the map, making it like XNW watchtowers, a piece of terrain that is fought over. (So no force field blockers on ramps/other key locations P needs FF on to survive)
I think this would add another layer of depth to PvX matchups as it would force the players to consider the location of the terrain and how much they should occupy it depending on how agressive they are. It would also allow for more intresting terrain layouts, as protoss wont be able to abuse FF in certain locations.
(I will be publishing the mod/test map for this, just wanted to get a general community reaction for now)
Why not scv-destroying mineral line? Sounds just as smart and game-breaking.
Its a static object. You dont have to go there and you can walk around it.
Its purely up to mappers to decide where they use it. They could make every square inch of the map FF proof, or just the XNW's. Calling a new feature that could be added to maps "gamebreaking" when the mapper has complete control over how it affects the map is ignorant.
So a mapmaker makes a choke that can't be choked. Or an open field in mid map, than no sane protoss with ground army would engage on in the first place. Your idea can be good for UMS maps, but not for 1v1 type maps.
Would be cool to have alterable terrain though. Like if you nuke a cliff, it turns into a ramp. Or if you sink couple barracks in a a creek, you make a new pathway. Or that dead battlecruisers crash on the ground and make an unpathable, but destructible roadblock. Or if you kill enough zealots at cliff, their corpses make a ramp. Anyway, no FF is bad idea.
