anyone know of somewhere within Aus that sells a basic Cherry Brown switch Keyboard in AUS? if so are they any good and how much/any info on where you may be able to purchase one from would be awesome.
I've looked at the elitekeyboards.com site and its something silly like 160 to get one of the cherry brown plain boards sent to AUS 109 + 50 or 60 shipping. which is a bit expensive. I was thinking about the Black Widow by Razor but I'm not sure of the blue switches they are a little too loud I don't mind the keyboard itself though if only they did the brown switches.
Also I know there are already posts about the elitekeyboards.com site here to which I was interested in what it sounded like was a deal that was going to happen for SC2Sea members but I think that fell over.
so out to you guys anyone got an awesome keyboard with cherry brown switches for a decent price if so where did you get them from?
Google the PLU 87, it's one of the cheapest brown keyboards you can get, but most likely will come from HK or China. From what I've read it's quite good quality, though not as good as others. You can get Das keyboards from aus here http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...cPath=113_1224 but be aware that those keyboards require 2 USB ports for some reason. Auspcmarket seem to be out of browns at the moment, they used to have two pages or results for Filco but now its down to one. Other than that afaik there aren't any other places you can get brown switches in aus besides ebay, so you might have to look overseas.
Edit: Ok that link that erasmus posted totally counters what I said about auspcmarket lol. It's just that their search function is absolute crap.

Other than my personal bias that Reds are the best =D.
When I was looking around I found that basically unless you find an international seller who happens to be on sale, then the cost of shipping one in is about the same as buying from local dealer like Auspcmarket.
And yes spend the extra few dollars and get reds =D

I've been getting interested in reds Can you describe what they're like for u?
If you want a cheaper option http://mechkeyboards.com/index.html is about to get leopold keyboards in stock within the next few weeks. They are going to be about $30-$40 cheaper then the Filco keyboards and still very good quality.
Maximus I did look into this however it was around the same price once you factored in the shipping from Korea (not to mention the time it would take to get there) I just got the Filco
Just got a filco tenkeyless with brown switches! Feeling pretty good, will take a while to get used to though. The switches are a lot less tactile than I expected, the bump is really subtle.

Yeah i have the filco too but that link that i just posted is an Australian site that is going to start stocking the Leo's so there wont be the added cost for shipping. I emailed them the other day actually and they will have the 104 key Leopold FX200R's will be in stock in a week or so and the ten-keyless will be coming in mid July.
Sounds like you've already bought a keyboard but I'll tell you my experience with reds anyway.
Basically I think it has the benefits of the brown without the negative of noise, bump, tactile etc. It also has the benefits of blacks (i.e. none of the negatives of a brown) without the negatives of the black i.e. requires a lot more pressure on key press and that kinda stuff.
This does mean that it comes with it's own negatives. When the pressure required is so low without the noise you sometimes press a button without realising it. I've had cases where i scroll down a page with my mouse and notice the screen start zooming because i had my pincky on the ctr button. I believe though this problem will disappear once I get more used to the keyboard.
Just FYI I have a Filco Majestouch with Red Cherry keys. A friend of mine has the same thing with Brown keys. Both of us agree that the reds are much better though if you have a working brown I dont think there's enough of a difference to go and buy a new keyboard.
I am of the opinion if your after a new keyboard anyway you should get reds. Though apparently that's not the general conscenous and that's why reds are rare cause many people live with the problems of browns in order to save $40-$50.
Ok, thanks for that. I'm happy with getting browns to start, maybe further down the line I'll get reds, though they do seem difficult to find. I'm also curious about clears/whites, they seem to be like browns with a bit more resistance and a more defined tactile bump, but extremely hard to get as well.
To second maximus auspcmarket.com.au (with all this business we are drumming up they should start sponsoring some of our tourneys :P *wink wink*)
My Cherry brown switch keyboard took a little getting used to but now I love it I probably would have got Blue switch but they are too noisy as I live with my Finance she would get driven up the wall with my 120 apm clicking away on the blues.
Over the weekend I went 16 - 4 on the ladder (I'm not sure if that was just cause of the way Bnet works of the keyboard) but I feel like I've increased my apm and am doing things a lot smoother now.
