Hello hows everyone going with the new reset of ranks. I noticed that some servers like korea and eu havn't reset yet was wondering when they do so I can actually world rank up instead. It's kind of hard being able to catch 4k points with a start of 0.

From what I heard, Blizzard already has a desired position for you in the ladder, no matter you win your first placement or not.

For me, I ranked up in 2v2 and 3v3 but then I stayed in Diamond for 1v1 :P
So I'm guessing if you did well last season in a league, there is a huge possibility you'd rank up.
I'm not completely sure, because for 2v2 and 3v3 I won, so that might've contributed to my rank up.

I got placed against a Plat, smashed him, and it put me in Gold.

As I understand it your Blizzard internal ranking remains the same. Unless you were already right on the cusp of either being promoted/demoted you should end up in the same division as you were previously.

I lost my first 3 games but then won 3 in a row. Which is perfect from a points perspective

Did my placement on NA last night and completely skipped Gold league. Went straight from Silver to Plat...

Still in Silver on SEA though...*grumble grumble grumble*

If you didn't play any games during the ladder lock, you won't move leagues. If you ranked up or down during the Ladder Lock, you will be promoted or demoted with the 1 game, regardless if you win or lose it. The 1 placement game means absolutely nothing in regards to division placed unless the MMR you gain from winning it or lose from Losing it is the small amount of gain you required to be promoted.

EG: Del is an amazing player that was Top of Diamond before the Ladder lock, during the ladder lock he wins alot of games and his MMR moves up so high, hes top Masters. He loses his placement game to Benji, but his MMR is still amazing so he is placed in Masters.

anyone know when eu and korean servers reset, at least it'll give us a chance to get higher sea world rankings.

With the ladder reset for season 2, your MMR (i.e. your hidden skill value; based on who you win against and who you lose against) remains the same. Furthermore, from the 22/03 - 29/03 the ladders were "locked"; meaning no promotion nor demotion could occur, however wins and losses would still contribute to your MMR.

Your MMR is what determines who you are playing with each match-up, as well as if you're eligible for a promotion or demotion. However the more games you play and spend in a certain league can make it harder for you to get promoted (I remember an official post from Blizzard on this issue). Either way, if your MMR was high enough for a promotion or low enough for a demotion, most players would effectively see that after their placement match of Season 2. If it was neither high enough for promotion nor low enough for demotion; players would remain in the same league they finished season 1 in, albeit perhaps a different ranking.

I dont like it. I was doing good in 2v2 but hardly played it 2 weeks prior to season 2 and my placement match demoted me from platinum to gold even with winning >.<
I just don't like it. Why bother having that placement match at all then?

It's based on your past season MMR. Doesn't mean you beat Diamond/Plat will place you in higher division.

Everyone else explained it really well but I am expressing my dislike for getting demoted for doing well >.<

The placement match is designed to weed out people who don't play there accounts. So if they don't play the 1 game they will never be put back into the league system and if they don't use the account it keeps them off the ladder till they play it again.

Yes, exactly. This is why the placement match doesn't matter. It's simply to distinguish between who is active and who isn't.
