How long did it take you to reach a decent-level of skill?
I was browsing boredaussie forums when i noticed a thread i made ages ago (http://forums.boredaussie.com/viewtopic.php?t=42522)
Basically it shows that i am a 500point Terran looking for help/practise partners.
Post was made on 5th of december 2010 = when i was new to the game and just got it.
Its now been about 3.5 months and ive gone from 500point terran to 2.7k diamond terran.

Decent doesnt necessarily mean you can competitively play in tourneys - and nice work O.O thats like what 1-2 months? did you have previous rts experience? sc2 was my first rts
Took me 150 games (3weeks) to get out of bronze and into silver, took me another 60 games (1week) to get to gold, took me 50games (1week) to get from gold to diamond, took me 40 gmaes to get from diamond to masters (1week).
How long did it take you to make a confusing thread? :P
How long did it take for you to come up with such a witty retort. I guess you comment making skills are far from zergtastic, maybe I will give you lessons sometime at a nominal fee of course. We can dance we can cry, and I will never say goodbye.
took me about 5months to reach my plateau in skill for starcraft bw (C-rank), which was about 2 years ago and since then i hav'nt improved in mechanics much at all. C- rank in bw translated over to top 50 in SEA for sc2

Game sense and working out why you lost > massing games.
Often times RTS games work in phases. Step 1) Learn a build and apply it no matter what happens, just to work out the dynamic and execution of timings. Step 2) Work out why you're starting to lose against particular counter-strategies or techniques and work out if things can be done better. Step 3) Return to step one with your new bag of tricks.
A player is often on their way to becoming a sound player when they are able to do step 2 properly, that is, they know what they need to look for next time and how to react (something very difficult to do and constantly changing!)
Dude, it really depends on how much effort you are willing to put into playing the game, and improving. Get pinder as a coach Aean! But basically, watch pro replays, watch those day9 videos on youtube about mechanics. Then don't be scared to ladder and lose, just watch your replays and improve.
