Its going to be big, but how many competitive people are there going to be there :/ the only ones i know are the ones that attend the cityhunter LAN's, eg. TA members and some others.
iaguz and YoonYJ are from Sydney. nGenBenji and Light should be there. Bunch of TA guys too - that should round out the top8 if there are no inter-state players.

Me in top 8? del
Seriously tho, I'm chasing this up because $20,000 is more money than a MLG, and you'd want to be making alot of noise if you're hosting such a massive tourney.
That sort of money for 4v4 is pretty retarded, seems like they're just throwing money out there with little thought behind it. The website for this is very 1 dimensional as well, I'm pretty skeptical.

True, but you can't really ignore the tourney, considering there's almost zero travel for us :P
I'm guessing someone has an ESPORTS budget but doesn't actually have a clue about SC2.
So true!!
With that huge of an esports budget, you could run multiple tournaments (think 5 huge 5k events like the WD PSI we had or 2 massive 10k-15k events), stretch qualifying rounds for the finals over a longer time period rather then just two dates, hype it much further by announcing confirmed foreign guests pros who are flying down to play with interviews etc and well plently of other stuff which would give exposure to the sponsors so they get a good return on their investment and continue to pour money in the esports scene.
Wow I think I might actually attend a LAN fort once. I'm sure my partner wont mind when I tell her about the money :P
Plus a 3 hour drive from Canberra really isnt that far.
Now I just need a team also for 4v4
I'm pretty sure the article is a troll... simply because I heard about this tournament a few days ago as everyone was tweeting it. Yet the OP on APC had been removed. There have been NO posts on any websites other then APC about it either...
In conclusion: this tournament is VERY badly organised, OR someone at APC is trolling??
I am excited and confused...
Edit: ok the link to NRG works now and it actually looks semi-legit. Wth is going on
Are the qualifier's happening at the lan? This should definitely have more publicity, 6k or 1.75k is a massive amount of money for an aus event. QL / CS / SC2 would make it an unbelievable lan.
Whoever else here is looking at joining the 4v4, drop me a line - Tom.806 (preferably masters level arranged team and high up in SEA top 200 1v1).
I'm mainly a team gamer, with two Masters arranged 2v2 teams (one with 143-10) and two more that will immediately qualify if those partners ever decide to log on. Also 3175 masters 1v1 with mass unused bonus pool.
YYJ: Bro I would be delighted to be on a team with you, any banter we have in the game wouldn't carry on to real life. However, seeing as you are probably the favourite to take the 1v1 tourney barring nobody coming here from overseas/interstate, I totally understand and agree with your decision to join the 1v1.
When I heard about it is only 1v1 or 4v4 it was quite depressing, the money offered for the 1v1 is much more enticing than the 4v4, but the experience/atmosphere of participating/winning a tournament with a team is priceless. Currently leaning more towards 4v4. Me and Benji are recruiting two players to form a team with us, message me and Benji in game if you are interested!

This is a legit tournament according to the internet cafe. i have sent them an email and this is there reply:
Hi Dylan,
No it is "for real". I don't know why people are saying that it isn't. It is totally organised by myself and the team at Altech Computers. It will be held at the dates mentioned on the website.
The main way to distinguish whether you are entering 1v1 or 4v4 competition is by simply entering a team name or not. So if a competitor does not enter a team name in the registration form, they will be allotted to the 1v1 tourney.
That was something I was curious about looking at the registration form.
We have 4 main sponsors of the event. Corsair, Logitech, Razer and AMD! All have provided us with certain contributions, and due to Altechs existing relationship with them, we will be working together to simply put on a successful event. We will be filming the event, so will PC Powerplay and APC. Representatives from other IT publications, such as Atomic will also be present to film. I have spoken to certain members of Team Liquid.net and we are in the process of working something out in that regards. APC and Atomic have already posted articles online.
Curious as to whom they're working with from TL, going to inquire about this.
As far as the prize pool goes, the current plan is: 1st -3rd place in both the 1v1 and 4v4 will be receiving cash prizes. 4th-10th in the 1v1 will be receiving hardware prizes sponsored by Logitech, Razer, AMD and NRG. 4th-6th in the 4v4 will be receiving hardware prizes sponsored by Corsair and Razer.
Bam, thats alot more detailed than what we've heard from before, should help people decide if they're coming or not.

Just on a side note, Razer will be supplying a lot of the gaming peripherals on the day. They have offered to supply InTime Cyber Café with their latest range of mice, keyboards, etc.
To add to what benji posted, I am talking with the sponsor/promo team early next week to try and get the word out about this and give my input so any issues you want raised direct them via PM to me or post here in the thread. I will try and get some more information for the OP so if you want some specifics let me know and I'll see what I can find out.
Also I will be talking with the game scheduler, map and group organisers to give my input there as well to make it more fitting of a competitive SC2 event.
In the meantime just spread the word guys and try and get as big a participation as possible! If it works out well for everyone involved there will be more in the future!

Hi guys, Starhunter suggested I joined the site and register my interest in joining the 4v4.
I'm Sydney based been around SC2 for ages, most of you see me play as Lionheart, but have recently changed name to Mugen feel free to look at my profile on the SEA server:
nick: Mugen id: 414
I'm currently looking for a team as I feel that's my strongest field, feel free to add me and inquire more.
Thanks.

most obvious issue is format imo, bo3 single elim for both quals and finals is pretty bad, see if you can convince them to do groups for quals and double elim for finals or something!
also, see if you can get them to get a decent map pool, the maps they plan on using are super outdated T-T
Hi, I've got no idea how these things usually work and this seems as good a place as any to ask. Do these types of tournaments usually turn into social events? or is it just a place for the top-200 list to grind some money?
I'm only a diamond scrub but I can come along no problems, just wondering if its worth it without knowing anyone.
Has anyone actually entered a Lan SC2 tournament before?
The last tourney I went with a SC2 Lan, failed because Blizzard blocked the same IP from having multiple logins (Only 2 could log-in at a time or so)
I don't want to see this problem at this tourney either,
Can anyone confirm?
I'm tempted to go, I'd love to do coverage with a site/org if possible. Just need to get the people running it to realise that the way they're choosing to do this is beyond terrible and needs major reformation and real publicity instead of a months notice to everyone for the largest tournament we've seen in the country.

There's always plenty of lower level people even a few bronze/silvers show up, and many people just come to hang around and spectate. It should be great fun if you like starcraft your bound to have fun.
Blistering Sands
Delta Quadrant
Lost Temple
Metalopolis
Steppes of War
Scrap Station
Xel naga Caverns
Shakuras Plateau
Could everyone please join me in contacting the organisers (yoyo.zhang@intimegroups.com)and DEMANDING that they fix this completely imbalanced map pool! So far the organisers have replied to emails from several angry sc2 players with:
Let's try and imagine some problems with these maps:
1) Steppes of war, rush distance = 1 screen, zerg will auto-lose against a solid T or P.
2) Lost Temple, cliff drop on natural = gg
3) Delta quadrant = so many ways for terran to drop and abuse helions or seige tanks in close positions that it is simply retarded.
There are also no vetoes!
For such a big tournament with big sponsors and coverage to actually promote imbalanced play and random game modes such as 4v4 it makes me sad and angry. As one of the top zergs on SEA my hopes of success were dashed upon seeing this ridiculous decision by the organisors. If a zerg hits the top 8 it will be due to a mix of truly spectacular play and raw luck.
I'm sure P and T recognise imbalances and lack of depth in gameplay on these maps so please PLease reply with what YOU think is wrong with this map pool.
On a further note whilst you can bring your own mouse and headphones(Who cares?) you HAVE to use their keyboards.
Yesterday I was at the City hunter charity LAN and forgot to bring my keyboard. I was playing at a much lower skill level than normally until i ducked home during lunch and got my own keyboard, following with a huge jump in my apm and skill. I was simply lucky to only vs players much lower then me to this point. From this point i won the tournament, using the equipment I TRAINED on for the last 6 months.
As someone said on TL this is like taking the favoured joggers off of an olympic sprinter right before his race.
We need to get vocal about demanding the correct professionalism and organisation from an event that is getting huge sponsorship.
If the event proceeds as planned it may actually be a step backwards for e-sports in Australia as the rest of the world watching on TL will realise just how BACKWARDS we are. First we banned L4D2, now we can't even update a goddamn map pool.
I am bloody angry please join me in contacting the organisers and getting it fixed!
Depending on circumstances I might live stream the tournament this coming Sunday.
I have the Justin.tv app and it allows live streaming from my phone so again depending on circumstances (Internet {with crappy 3 3G} if I'm aloud and others) then I probably wont cast the games but more the atmosphere. Www.Justin.tv/Djvillian
Another thing I have been in contact via emails and the organizers though they have sponsors they don't actually know what their prescense there will be. Possibly not aloud to bring anything of our own. I have asked them to find out and I will let you all know about the use of our own mice and headsets when they reply to me since the rules clearly state we don't have to use theirs.

Reason: Typo
Thank you for Registering for the NRG Hardcore Gamer Tournament. We hope you are preparing for it!
Unfortunately, several changes have been made to the tournament. We have heard whisperings about competitors not being happy with the maps and also the fact that there is a 4v4 tournament.
We here at Marketing Pro and NRG have decided to rectify these issues. Our updated map list will be going online this evening!
We have also unfortunately, had to eliminate the 4v4 aspect of the tournament. It was simply not viable to hold both competitions. There are now more prizes on offer for the 1v1 competitors, with the same prize pool remaining!
If you have entered the 4v4 competition, you will automatically be allocated a spot in the 1v1 competition.
If you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Also, don’t forget to find ‘NRG Hardcore Gaming’ on Facebook!
sorry to hear about 4v4 guys I guess a few people were upset about that a shame its changed so close to the date, i wonder if the prize pool for 1v1 will go up to $15000?
To add clarification to this here is an email from Joseph that I have recieved:
-------
Overnight it came to my knowledge that you can use your own keyboard, mouse, etc, however, the event will be sponsored by Razer, who are supplying keyboards, mice and headsets for all machines at the venue. So there will be brand new Razer gear available to be used!
But like I said, If you are wanting to use your own peripherals please feel free. Just to be clear, this is not a LAN Party, it is a gaming tournament, so there is no need to bring your machine.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Kind Regards
Joseph Touma

This massive lan sounds great. Good that they are taking player feedback onbaord too.
I thought about attending, but have had a very busy last couple of weeks in rl, and have had no time to 1v1 ladder. I'd say i'd be around top 250-400 active Aussie players, not really worth the travel until i get top 150-250 i think. If they decide to run a 2nd one, i might attend that. Would be an awesome experience, and a chance to meet some other players.
Would have been nice if they'd held qualifiers in each main city, then the big tourney in Sydney. Or held the two qualifers Sat/Sun rather than a week apart.
