About the Season
For season one, we are planning a two tiered competition to take place over three months. The top tier will be a selection of the top 12 teams to sign up.
Two groups of 6 will play in a round robin so each team will play each other twice. One time being all-kill format and the second being pro-league style.
The top teams in each group will advance to the playoffs where they will compete to take the prizes.
The selection process will involve the members of the ESL team selecting 6 of the strongest teams and the remaining 6 will be selected through a qualifier tournament to be held in the week before the launch of the season. Places for the qualifier tournament will also be selected by ESL Admins.
The All-Kill format will be an elimination style format where the winning player stays on until the opposing team has no players left. Maximum of 4 players per side.
The Pro-League style format will be four 1VS1 matches best of 3. With an ace match if required.
Teams can put up any one of their players who have already played to compete in the ace match or a 5th from their roster.
Tier two format will be determined at a later date depending on the number of signups.
This thread will serve as a place to register your team. So follow the sign up rules and post the link to your team page in the thread below. Our admin team will go through and check each signup.
Make sure to post the link to your team page, the members signed up (you need at least 4) and their in game rank! Each player must have an account on the SEA server and be from Australia/NZ/SEA.
Good Luck Have Fun!
P.S Any questions feel free to put them in this Thread and i'll get back to them as soon as I can
EDIT:
We have decided to extend the teams sign ups by two weeks to the 14th of November. This is to give teams a bit extra time and to allow us to get some final things sorted out.
Thanks for your support

Looking forward to watching the matches guys! Should be a great league to follow, very happy that we can bring something else through ESL here in our region!
"Teams must have at least 4 players to sign up and be willing to commit to the three month season."
How flexible is the playing schedule? Three months is a long time to commit to something especially when players have school/other tournaments to play in. Would be nice to know how the format will work every week and if there's some leeway for scheduling matches

Tier Two should be pretty flexible.. depends on number of signups.. hence why we haven't put anything out yet.
Tier One however will be pretty locked in with game times and stuff because we'll be streaming them on the main ESL channels. It'll probably be the same day every week and so on
IXL will be looking for players to represent us for this team league.
We will be looking for dedicated players looking to practice and form strategies. hit me up on skype @ slayersvenom19

further more once the round robin is over and we begin the season into the likes of a pro league format
will teams need to submit their rosters so lines up are pre disclosed or?

Teams are playing twice in tier one. One all kill format where the first player will be announced. One pro-league format. So yes the players will have to be announced before the games. Except with the possibility of the ace matches.

I have raised this with ESL Admin staff and we will discuss a more flexible format that allows teams to schedule while still having rules and monitoring around such scheduling. We will discuss and let you guys know if there are any changes shortly.
Our roster is as follows:
yoeFWjojo - coach
yoeFWSan*
yoeFWHas
yoeFWSlam
yoeFWHui
yoeFWIan
yoeFWCheetos
yoeFWTNG
*San is Korean by nationality, but he is living in Taiwan at the yoeFW training house. If he is not allowed to participate, then we still have 6 members that can participate.

Yes. Consider yourselves signed up You're allowed to enter.
However as a note to all other people who wish to sign up players have to be predominately from the SEA server... we are counting Taiwan as apart of SEA and hope that some more Taiwanese teams can sign up.
One or two players from outside the SEA region have been allowed to participate, however we are allowing this on a case by case basis.
yoe FlashWolves (yoeFW) and their roster have been accepted into our competition.
Good luck and have fun to everyone.
P.S
Updated OP with news about extending the signup deadline.
Signups have closed.
We will be posting about groupings and other information in the next week or so.
There may be a change to the format as we expected there to be more teams.

Yeah, it's a shame the spirit behind a Team Cup has been ruined to the point where the format needs to be changed. We can't have good things all the time, GG!
Also not a huge fan of these mergers. Teams only need 4 players. If you really need 1 more to make that up, or for depth, should be looking at an independent, or other teams with only 1-2 players imo.
Hopefully we'll see some upsets, and it wont be too one sided for the big super teams. glhf.

Agreed, doesn't make sense for 2 teams that don't have 4 players to latch onto larger teams, rather the two smaller teams should join together
Feedback Edit:
e.g. Fray merging with Avant has taken a team that is already one of the favourites to win to now having an even greater chance with the addition of 3 very good ringers.
Where imo Avant and the ex flash players(who joined with Exile 5)for example could have joined together to create an additional team for the tournament. However the current result has lead to 2 much stronger and deeper teams, with 1 less team being in the tournament.
Needs to be clearer rules regarding this in the future
Very appreciative for the tournament... merely just sharing my opinion

The original intention was to join forces with a less experienced team, unfortunately their organisation was involved in a rather large scandal (in another title) about a week ago, making us somewhat hesitant to align our name with theirs for 3 months, with 6 days to go options werent all that vast.
RE: Flash players I agree I kicked myself for not thinking to ask them before x5 announced their team, ultimately thats the way the cookie crumbles.

In regards to x5, the decision to merge with Revenant and Blysk was made several weeks ago before the lack of teams in the competition became apparent. They asked to play with us, and as we considered them friends and wanted to ensure we could field a team for every round, we gladly accepted. There was no ill will in our decision, though it can be accepted that our line up is stronger for it.
As Rossi said, clearer rules will be needed for this in the future.
I understand Av wanting to merge but why the hell would fray? it makes no sense to me they have plenty of players and are one of the most competitive teams already.
both team members (the players, nothing to do with management or org) get along quite well.
Both teams have upcoming restrictions to availability, while all players will play for the merged team, there maybe be times when even fray wouldn't have the numbers available.
Regardless, none of this hate for team merging was brought up for any of the other mergers. Just fray and Avant because they are 'stronger' teams. So this reaction to merging is subjective, rather than an objective view on 'team' or 'rules'....
If Byrnsy has an issue with this merger and wants to separate the teams then thats up to him and we will follow any instruction given.
How 'bout we all just get on with having some good games

Where is the hate? We're merely discussing things on a forum and providing feedback
The only thing I see that sucks is that there is so many players restricted to one team. So maybe a team has been removed from competition. But to me strength is not a factor given the format. If only 4 players can play each week, it doesn't matter if your bench has got ace worthy players cause they ain't getting no game time.
Just as beatable as either team independently imo, so really I don't mind.
Its because you guys are already considered the best team in Aus chad. Could you imagine if we had an aus team league and invited EG and they were like 'oh sure guys just let us team up with liquid as well" like, its just not necessary I feel. Whilst I agree av would need to join up with another team, that team shouldn't be fray. Yes its a double standard to let some 'strong' teams merge and not fray, but a lot of people would probably agree this is taking things a bit too far. Between your two teams you guys have won every major tournament in Australia , including IEM qualifications.
Yes it probably should have been specified in the rules about the limits of which teams can merge, if any, or provide an asterisk *pending admin decision or something.
At the end of the day it probably isn't gonna matter too much and this isn't the death of e-sports, but just my feelings. Also doesn't matter since SLCN.Syf gonna smash you all ahah
All i know is, IXL is going to have a much harder time taking games off the powerhouse's that are in this league.
But looking forward to the challenges that await.
Hey I just want to give everyone an update because its taking longer to do than I realised because of the remaking of the formats and so on.
I've had a couple of problems making the groups up and its taking a bit longer to sort out because of some problems with ESL members internet.
Do not fear we're still working on making this an awesome cup. We are planning to start after IEM so as not to clash schedules with the people flying to the event.
can we just get a round idea of how many teams have been set up?
Looking back on it, i'm really starting to hate on the idea of thee other powerhouse teams merging together and really destroying the idea behind a team based tournament.
This should come back to the players/coach's/team that play the game better, not necessarily tipping odds in favor to make up for a poor excuse that i find is my roster isn't full.
I'm sorry go out and recruit some players then, put in the effort to train players make new friends and bonds.
Not about the cash dollars at the end.
Things are almost sorted out. Some of the ESL Admins were at IEM Singapore so we are a bit behind.. but should have info and announcement within the next few days with the groups and schedule.
