The Intel Extreme Masters Singapore event is fast approaching, and we’d like to share the details on how to qualify for South East Asia / Australia.
1 Player from SEA/AU is eligible to attend the IEM Singapore event directly, two more will qualify for the SEA/China final. Sea residents that are currently living outside of the SEA region cannot participate, they must participate in the qualifiers for the region that they are currently in. People living in Singapore will be able to compete, despite the original notice.
You must be 16 years of age or older by the end of IEM Singapore (25/11/2012) to participate.
Here is how we will determine who the SEA/AU players will be:
• Stage 1: Open bracket Dates: 13th, 14th, 16th and 18th of October.
The top 8 players from the open bracket will go through to the second stage
• Stage 2: Qualification only Dates: 20th and 21st of October.
8 automatically seeded players will be invited, and compete against the 8 qualifiers.
The top 4 from this stage will go through.
• Stage 3: Final Date: 27th of October
4 automatically seeded players will be invited, and compete against the 4 qualifiers.
The winner goes straight to IEM SG, and the 2nd and 3rd place runner up’s go to the
SEA China final.
**YOU MUST CHECK IN ON CUP DAY** Check-in Starts: One hour before the cup start time. Check-in Ends: 10 minutes before the cup start time. Late entries have no guarantee of acceptance. Check in here:
Most of stage 1 and all of stage 3 will be Cast by Maynarde and Zepph.
Maynarde is a very experienced caster from Adelaide, Australia and a stalwart of the SEA SC2 community. He has cast all the ACL events, some SEACL and the WCS.
Zepph is similarly a very experienced caster, from Sydney Australia and is an extremely active member of the community. She has cast LAN events such as GESC, ACL and EB Expo, and numerous online tournies.
We're extremely pleased to have this pair casting the majority of our event.
And announcing the caster for the second First Stage Qualifier! FlashFlamga! As Singapore's major team's main caster, we thought it appropriate to ask him to cast the IEM SG quals for us. His enthusiasm is exactly what we're looking for. Everyone tune in to the ESL.tv channel to watch his cast for the Second and Fourth first stage qualifiers.
Stage two, and certain parts of stage one are still available for casters. We've taken all the people volunteering into account and will announce further casters soon.
Venue/Ticketing: The venue is free, there is no ticketing or entrance fee required at all to attend IEM SG.
Casting: The casters will be the ESL TV casters, eg Joe Miller, James Kaelaris.
Seating: There will be seating at the venue, unconfirmed on numbers just now, will update further.
Thread will be updated after the qualifiers are finished, with the times of Stage 2 and Stage 3 for viewing, and with the seeds of the players that qualified. Players will be notified of their qualification on the nights of the Qualifiers, and advised of the times of their cups personally, via email as well as in-game chat. Feel free to ask any questions regarding the qualification process, which has changed dramatically.

Yea, after the interest that the Hype thread was getting, we knew we had to get the thread up quickly.
Anyone feel free to PM me questions if i'm not replying via the thread. The PM's go to my email so they're easier to track.

Sorry for the audio tearing on the first video, guess my mic volume was a tad bit too high during that cast.
Here is video for another clan war that I casted:
wow the esl site is hard to use. I understand why so many esl events in the past have been seen in a low light from the people i have talked to. the website is hard to use for both players and admins TT. Patience out there people. If something is running less smoothly than you would like during the tourneys, please remember that everyone is doing the best they can with the resources that they have been given.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in and of course Zepph for doing a great job as always. Sorry about the technical difficulties and not being able to stream the finals. IrisCrimson and FlashDrakE make it to stage 2!
Another Stage 1 qualifier tomorrow and also more Stage 1 on Tuesday and Thursday next week. Won't see you guys for those casts or for Stage 2 but shall be casting again for Stage 3! (27th October)

We'd like to thank Maynarde and Zepph for their excellent job doing the casting today and introduce tomorrow's caster, whom most of you already know.
FlashFlamga
Thread has been updated with an intro for Flamga. He will be casting the second and fourth First Stage Qualifiers. Good luck and have fun to everyone tomorrow.
Woo Flamga getting another break! I'm sure you will be happy with his professionalism and energy. It was a pleasure to cast IEM Guangzhou Stage 2 and 3 qualifiers so I would be more than happy to work with ESL again pending Stage 2 qualifying times. Get in touch with me via Skype if you want to look into it more!
Shoutout to Maynarde and Zepph as well for being awesome taking on the majority of the qualifiers! If you need any stream production let me know!
Hey everyone, just letting everyone know that due to League of Legends having use of the main channel, Flamga's stream will go out over the secondary channel,
Hey everyone, today was a great day of gaming and thanks to everyone who turned out to both participate and watch the stream. We experienced some technical difficulties, but Flamga and Byrnsy were still a great casting team, and we thank Flamga for his time, especially as he wasn't feeling the best. Also thankyou to Baldie who offered to obs the matches after the technical difficulties, and who took over from Flamga when he got sick.
ESLAU would like to explain what happened today when a player challenged a result, and explain the reasons for the challenge and the reasons for our decision.
What is a Challenge?
A challenge is available to all players competing in ESL events who feel that a circumstance outside the game of starcraft led to a result in a match. We take these very seriously, and people can be reprimanded for challenging unnecessarily as it wastes valuable cup time and resources.
Today's Challenge
Today, a legitimate concern was raised by CubeBy in regards to a lag issue that cR.SanG was experiencing. He felt that the lag caused him to be unable to micro his units properly towards the end of the match.
Seriousness of a Challenge
Concerns were raised about the validity of the challenge, and we would like to assure everyone in the community that a challenge is always taken seriously. At least one admin must watch your replay and decide on the outcome in a fair manner right then and there. This takes time, and slows down the cup, but it is for the benefit of all players.
After much deliberation, and agreement by multiple admin's, the challenge was overturned due to the following reasons:
1. CubeBy's early mutalisk pressure and the loss of most of his zerglings and banelings caused him to fall significantly behind. This happened before the complained of lag issues arose.
2. cR.SanG's lead only grew throughout the game.
3. In the final confrontations, where the lag was complained of, numbers were so heavily in favour of cR.SanG both supply and value-wise, that the chance of CubeBy winning on a perfect connection was almost nil.
Due to these reasons, the complained of lag was deemed to have had no significant effect on the match and the game was awarded to cR.SanG.
Back on track!
Congratulations to cR.KingKong who won the top seed from todays match, and to FlashKyzer who received runner up. The thread has been updated, placing them in the seed list for Stage 2.
Good work to everyone that competed today, you all make the event what it is.
>Get told to stop my game mid game because brackets are resetting
>Have same bracket
Pretty disgusted.
> Already explained to you that parts of the brackets changed - not all
> your match history supply counts show there was no major engagements and builds standard - no advantage given, result fair. (you were at 23 supply)
> you still post here and complain
Would you rather you be left to play your game - then be told it didn't count?
......
I understand your disappointed because you lost - but thats that - there was an error.. the ESL site is confusing for the new admins being brought in to run this for you in their free time.

Grow up.
Actually you told me mid game the brackets were resetting. And he double pylon blocked me + gateway blocked me in game one. Not standard at all, next game I basically revolved my entire early game around not letting that happen, he just played greedy.
If you can't see why this is just blatantly unfair then, then don't admin.

If you want to lie to bolster you case - go for it...
but the build order on the game that I told you to end - he hasn't even made a gateway. Forge Nexus and Canon is all he made. And only made 2 plyons.. standard timings

I dont understand how is he able to pylon block you in a tournament game? isn't there a supply depot?
If you think thats standard and that I don't have a disadvantage next game, then you have no idea. I agreed to not continue under the impression that I wouldn't be playing him again.
Not to mention your response in the chat channel was "oh well" and "if he saw your early 2rax then i guess it matters", then "its fair".
Seriously dude, what I said in chat was that I really hope that this didn't happen again because it was totally unfair to drop players out of a game, make them think they aren't playing each other, then having the exact same bracket for them.
I would've let it go if you said 'yeah i'm sorry that it happened' but you are so goddamn adamant that nothing went wrong, seriously, it's 100% unfair to do that to a player. Then your response is "grow up"? What kind of admin is that.
Edit;
Okay now you deleted your post. Cool.
Such a mature admin.

Such a mature player. Grow up. It is the admins responsibility to let players know if things are changing that could have effected them. It made you play slightly safer/pay more attention to pylon blocks, if you are a good enough player, it should not matter. Don't go blatantly bming the admins for doing there job. Next time do not play.

At the end of the day - would you rather everyone was told to end their matches because of a bracket error - while the matches were at most 4 mins in.. or wait till everyone finishes and tell them that the match didn't count because the brackets change?
I'd rather you waited until you had sufficient information of the new bracket before telling players to leave their games, and taking it from there.
I know I'm going to look like the bad guy because you are an admin, and I know your new at this/haven't been fully trained, but I did get an apology from other admins so I'm thankful for that.

I think your overreacting Petrify. You shouldnt really challenge the validity of a 4:09 game. If a player DC's after that duration its considered a dead rubber, you cant (under 99%) of circumstances claim that you would have won that game. Admins asking you to regame due to issues is perfectly reasonable. If you have an issue about how it "went down" then I would highly recommend you talk to Chadmann with PM's rather than an open forum where nosy opinionated people like me will happily throw in their 2 cents!
That wasn't the issue. I wasn't claiming I won or that he won.
The issue was we were told to stop playing entirely because the bracket was resetting so naturally I assumed I wouldn't have the exact same bracket and wouldn't have to start the exact same map, against the exact same opponent.
Except they didn't touch my part of the bracket whatsoever.
Edit; Chadmanns response was, 'oh well'.

He said he did the gateway block in game 1, thats why it wont show on the build order for game 2

Either way - the result was still fair.
My response to your concerns was lack lustre because I had a dozen other tasks to get to.
You started going off at me saying it was a "******* joke" and blaming the admins. We put in the time for free to put these events on for you. When you go off at the admin - you shouldn't expect apologies or help to solve your problem. I will always give the short answer to people that have that attitude to Admins.
My response 'Grow up' was after you'd made multiple aggressive remarks to the admins of the cup. The result is still fair - the matches were played out. there were others whos brackets were changed around.
At the end of the day - would you rather everyone was told to end their matches because of a bracket error - while the matches were at most 4 mins in.. or wait till everyone finishes and tell them that the match didn't count because the brackets change?
Errors happen.. next time work WITH the admins to make it better for everyone - going off at people that give up their free time to do this for you, isn't going to get you anywhere.
I've said all I need - I will no longer be replying to this issue in this thread.
If you want a better response than 'oh well' and 'grow up' then don't abuse admins.
My initial reaction was, something along the lines of "I know you are doing your best admins, but seriously saying the bracket is resetting, making me stop a game, and then not changing the bracket at all, that's a ******* joke". If you think that's abusing admins, then I'm sorry that I said it was a joke - but it was.
The Stage 1 qualifiers released the bracket right on 11am / 8pm when the tourney started but they were open sign ups. Not sure about Stage 2 actually considering the bracket is actually full.
